PART 1 GENERAL

1.1   SECTION INCLUDES

A.   Thermally broken steel window and doors.

1.2   RELATED SECTIONS

A.   Section 08800 - Glass: Glazing performance and installation requirements.

1.3   SUBMITTALS

A.   Submit under provisions of Section 01300.

B.   Product Data: Manufacturer's data sheets on each product to be used, including:

1.   Preparation instructions and recommendations.

2.   Storage and handling requirements and recommendations.

3.   Installation methods.

C.   Shop Drawings: provide elevation, section and details of each opening. Use window and door designations scheduled on the drawings.

** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete selection samples if colors have already been selected.

D.   Selection Samples: For each finish product specified, two complete sets of color chips representing manufacturer's full range of available colors and patterns.

E.   Verification Samples: For each finish product specified, two samples, minimum size 6 inches (150 mm) square representing actual product, color, and patterns.

1.4   QUALITY ASSURANCE

A.   Manufacturer Qualifications: Minimum 5 year experience manufacturing similar products.

B.   Installer Qualifications: Minimum 2 year experience installing similar products.

** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Include a mock-up if the project size and/or quality warrant taking such a precaution. The following is one example of how a mock-up on a large project might be specified. When deciding on the extent of the mock-up, consider all the major different types of work on the project.

C.   Mock-Up: Provide a mock-up for evaluation of surface preparation techniques and application workmanship.

1.   Finish areas designated by Architect.

2.   Do not proceed with remaining work until workmanship is approved by Architect.

3.   Refinish mock-up area as required to produce acceptable work.

1.5   PRE-INSTALLATION MEETINGS

A.   Convene minimum two weeks prior to starting work of this section.

1.6   DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

A.   Deliver and store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging bearing the brand name and manufacturer's identification until ready for installation.

B.   Handling: Handle materials to avoid damage.

1.7   PROJECT CONDITIONS

A.   Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's recommended limits.

1.8   SEQUENCING

A.   Ensure that products of this section are supplied to affected trades in time to prevent interruption of construction progress.

PART 2 PRODUCTS

2.1   MANUFACTURERS

2.2   WINDOWS AND DOORS

** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** An innovative door and window frame system with minimal bulk for sustainable architecture. OS2 system has been studied, designed and made in order to provide historical and monumental buildings with door and window frames that could meet the highest performance and insulation standards required and that could, at the same time, visually recall the classic Hot rolled. ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Available: Steel, Cor-ten Steel, Stainless Steel, Bronze.

A.   System OS2 as manufactured by Brombal USA and distributed exclusively by Steel Windows and Doors USA.

1.   OS2 system is equipped with a 1-13/16 inches (46 mm) lateral and a 2-7/16 inches (62 mm) central section, made with thermal break profiles - integrated with a complete range of system accessories - as required for the range of openings scheduled or indicated.

a.   Thermally insulated integrated system of profiles, accessories and gaskets with visible section of 46 mm (lateral section) and 62 mm (central section) suitable for rectangular, trapezoidal, arched shaped double leafed doors and windows for door and window with or without fixed side light.

b.   The metal profiles that make up the system shall be 15/10 mm thick and are obtained from the cold-forming of the coils in the materials specified.

c.   The thermal break connection inside the section shall be high density polyurethane resin, injected at high pressure. The connection is continuous, without interruptions, guaranteeing maximum resilience to torsional and bending stress.

d.   The assembly of the frame profiles shall be connected by welding together the sections and ground down neatly and finished, or by combining mechanical assembly and internal welding that does not require the retouching of the finish.

e.   Glazing Capability: 1-3/16 inch (30 mm) maximum. The system permits use of double or triple thermal insulated glazing with single or stratified glass (security glass).

2.   Door System Performance:

a.   Thermal Transmittance (EN ISO 10077-2): Typical section (stainless steel) Uf =3,10 W/(m2 x K).

b.   Acoustic Performance (DIN 52210 / DIN EN ISO 717-1): Up to 38 dB.

c.   Resistance to wind load (DIN EN 12210): Class B4.

3.   Windows System Performance:

a.   Thermal Transmittance (EN ISO 10077-2): Typical section (stainless steel) Uf =2,97 W/(m2 x K).

b.   Acoustic Performance (DIN 52210 / DIN EN ISO 717-1): Up to 38 dB.

c.   Air Permeability (DIN EN 12207): Class 4.

d.   Watertightness (DIN EN 12208): Class 9A (E1050).

e.   Resistance to Wind Load: (DIN EN 12210) Class B4.

f.   Resistance to Repeated Opening and Closing (DIN EN 1197-12400): Class 2 - 10.000 opening and closing.
