Three Day Introductory Steadicam Workshop

21st-23rd March 2007

TheTiffen Europe Steadicam Workshop is a great opportunity to work with the latest Steadicam systems. It is designed for those interested in basic training on the use of Steadicam and is held at the excellent BBC Wood Norton training facility near Evesham allowing us to work in the grounds during good weather or in a studio during bad weather.

The cost is £590.00 plus VAT (total £693.25) and is due before the course starts. This includes the course itself and the use of all equipment but not accommodation or meals. There is on-site accommodation available as well as a fair selection of good value local off-site accommodation in the town of Evesham.Arrangements should be made directly with your choice. Meals are not included but will be available during the day at very reasonable rates from the cafeteria and in the evening from one of a variety of local establishments.

Three days is a very short time in terms of Steadicam training and the course is very intensive. We will cover the balancing and setting up of the rig, adjusting the rig to suit the operator, some basic techniques common in the use of Steadicam and a few applications. On the last day it is usual for us to record a shot. We cannot pretend that we can make you an operator in three days but we can help you off the starting block in terms of learning how to practice, the rest is down to personal effort.

The requirement for students is simply that they have camera experience and they are reasonably healthy (please feel free to discuss this if you have any doubt). Students should also be aware that Steadicam operation is a physical activity and they will probably get hot therefore the typical preferred dress for their own comfort is a tracksuit or jeans and tee shirt –maybe shorts in the summer months. Ankle-supporting trainers make ideal footwear.

To reserve a place on the course please fill in the information below and forward it together with the fee to Robin Thwaites at Tiffen Europe. You may also e-mail to . Places will be allocated strictly on first come first served basis so a rapid response is recommended. Successful applicants will receive an acceptance letter and details of accommodation. If you have any further questions please feel free to call us.
