1.  Scope

A.  This section describes the requirements for a stationary ultrasonic flow meter.

B.  The contractor shall supply the flow meter and accessories as indicated on the plans and as herein specified.

2.  Products

2.1 Ultrasonic Clamp-on Ultrasonic Flow Meter

A.  Outline

The clamp-ontransit-time difference ultrasonic flow meter shall be a microprocessor-based instrument that uses transit-time (time of flight) difference method and provides providing an electronic output signal proportional to the flow of liquid in closed pipeline that is filled with liquid.

It shall consist of a main unit and transducer set connected by up to 300m [984.3 feet] of dedicated cable.

Transducers shall be clamped onto the outside of pipe. So clamp-on transducer is non-intrusive and non-invasive, there are no pressure losses in the pipe and no wear on the components of the flow meter. And also they can be installed rapidly, without cutting into the pipe and without process interruption.

B.  Main Unit

1)  Enclosure shall be IP65 / NEMA 3 rating of ingress protection even during measurement.

2)  Power supply shall be via 100~2340VAC +/-10% (50/60Hz +/-10%).

DC24V +/-20% is available by option.

3)  Power consumption shall be within 20 to 27VA by AC power supply.

4)  Operating temperature shall be -10°C to 650°C (14°F to 14022°F).

5)  Input / Output

The main unit shall provide integral functions for input / output interfaces with external instruments or computer systems..

a.  Signal input of maximum four channels Data Logging, 165000 points, CSV formatfor multi-path measurement

b.  Insulated USB memory device is connectable for data transfer.

c.  4-20mA current output (Allowable Load Resistance: 1k550 ohms max.)

d.  Digital output by Modbus and/or ASCII format

e.  Contact point output by photo couplerTemperature input by RTD (max. 4ch) for heat measurement (Optional)

6)  ConfigurationOperation

Flow meter configuration data shall be entered via a personal computer, Windows® software utility. No additional Tactile keypad with Ten-key and Function-buttons permit configuration of all parameters. Also input system written in dialogue can make smoothly input basic parameters.equipment shall be required.

Key entry shall be available to input basic parameters.

7)  Measurements shall be made by Ultrasonic Pulse Transit Time Difference Method.

8)  Measurement Cycle shall be 60 millisecond.

9)  Main unit can display waveform signal on its LCD for reference of measuring condition.

10)  Weight of main unit including integral battery shall be less thaapproximately n 81.5 kg.

C.  Transducer

1)  A pair of ultrasonic transducer functions as both transmitters and receivers alternately.

2)  The transducer shall be IP675 rating of ingress protection while coupling with dedicated cable.

3)  The transducer shall have variety to operate on pipe sizes ranging from DN 2513mm to 65000mm (1/2” to 24000”). DN means Diameter Nominal.

a.  Small-pipe transducers shall operate on pipe sizes from DN 2513mm to 250mm (1/2” to 210”).

Operating temperature shall cover -20°C to +65120°C (-4°F to +248149°F).

b.  Small-pipe high temperature transducers shall operate on pipe sizes from DN 25mm to 250mm (1” to 10”).

Operating temperature shall cover +60°C to +115°C (+140°F to +239°F).

c.  Medium-pipe transducers shall operate on pipe sizes from DN 65mm to 500mm (2 1/2” to 20”).

Operating temperature shall cover -20°C to 120°C (-4°F to 248°F).

d.  Large-pipe transducers shall operate on pipe sizes from DN 300mm to 56000mm (12” to 24000”).

Operating temperature shall cover -20°C to +65°C (-4°F to +149°F)80°C (-4°F to 176°F).

e.  Large-pipe high temperature transducers shall operate on pipe sizes from DN 300mm to 6000mm (12” to 240”).

Operating temperature shall cover +60°C to +115°C (+140°F to +239°F).

4)  The transducer shall have durable structure by metal housing.

D.  Measuring Performance

1)  Measuring range : –30 m/s to +30 m/s (-98.43 ft/s to +98.43 ft/s)

2)  Range ability : 1 : 300

3)  Measuring Accuracy of flow rate shall be as follows.

DN 13mm ~ 50mm (1/2” ~ 2”)

4)  Repeatability of flow rate measurement shall be ± 0.5%.as follows.

DN 13mm ~ 50mm (1/2” ~ 2”)

5)  Maximum length of dedicated cable between main unit and transducer shall be 300157m (984.3515 feet).

E.  Indication

1)  Display module shall be 16 character x 2lines320 x 240 dot matrix LCD equipped backlit.

2)  LCD shall display instantaneous flow rate, total flow rate, flow velocity, temperature (if active), combined flow rate status (If active) and difference flow rate (if active)warnings.

3)  Data display is configured by the user to display flow rate (76 digits), flow totalizing (87 digits), flow velocity (6 digits), temperature (5 digits, if active).

4)  Flow rate units and totalized units shall be selectable both metric and English.

F.  Functions

The following functions shall be provided:

1)  The flow meter shall provide automatic Reynolds Number compensation.

2)  The flow meter shall output flow rate,

3)  Internal self-diagnostics shall be available to assist maintenance.

4)  The flow meter shall equip two ports of aUSB memory device shall be available to connect with the flow meter directly. Then logged data and input parameters (site conditions) can be copied to the device in order to transfer the data to personal computer.nalog output for instantaneous flow rate.

5)  The flow meter shall equip two RS-232C ports of digital output for forward / backward flow totalized value and various warnings.

One is output to upper system by Modbus protocol, the other one is intercommunication-use to setup the flow meter.

The flow meter shall equip four ports of contact output for forward / backward flow totalized pulse and various warnings.

6)  The flow meter shall equipped maximum fourtwo measuring channels to, and following functions multishall be available alternatively.

7)  2-point measurement : Simultaneous measurement at two different points

8)  In case of 2 point measurement, display modes shall be selected from “Each single value”, “Sum value” and “Difference value”.

2-path measurement that s : Simultaneously measuresment along two or four different paths (diametrical axis) at the same point.

9)  The flow meter shall be available to connect with RTD (Resistance Temperature Detector) up to 4 pieces to calculate heat energy from flow rate and temperature.

10)  Receiving signal shall be available to monitor on LCD for visual confirmation whether receiving signal is good or poor due to measuring conditions.

11)  Pipe thickness measurement and sonic velocity measurement shall be available by dedicated sensor and test piece without external thickness gauge.

3.  Warranty Terms

The manufacturer of the above specified equipment warrants that the equipment shall be free from defects in design or material or workmanship for twelve (12) months after shipment from port/airport.

In the event a component fails to perform as specified or is proven defective in service during the warranty period, the manufacturer shall promptly repair or replace the defective part free of charge.
