STATION HOUSE SURGERY PATIENT REFERENCE GROUP – UPDATE REPORT NOVEMBER 2016

2016 has been a busy year for Station House surgery. There have been many changes and developments:

•Care Quality Commission visit in May. This was a very constructive visit and we achieved GOOD in all areas. The challenge now is to maintain or even improve that rating.

•Very kind donation of funds from a patient leading to the purchase and installation of the Patient Arrivals System & two state of the art ECG machines

•Staff Changes – Dr Bruce Helme and Dr Sarah Price joining the Practice. Dr Martin Bethell and Dr Sarah Woodford leaving to undertake new challenges.

•Improvement of signage both internally and at the entrance from Station Road – internal signage is still being upgraded.

•Surgery interior decoration – the patient areas and consultation rooms were completely redecorated early this year. We are aware there are some areas suffering with damp ingress and this has been addressed with the building management company.

•Patient Online Access – We have made a concerted effort to encourage patients to register for online access which currently includes Appointment booking, Prescription ordering, Immunisation record, Allergy record, Medical Problems, Results of tests. There will be more made available as soon as Policies have been developed to manage these services safely and securely.

•Introduced the MJOG appointment reminder and cancelling system for mobile phones.

•NHS Health Checks – following PPG feedback there has been a drive to invite eligible patients in for their NHS heath check. The Surgery has 2586 currently eligible patients. To date: Invited: 756 Attended: 548 There is still more work to be done but this is a great start!

•Training /upskilling of staff to release GPs & nurses from tasks which could be done by others

•Need to increase patient list size – a Station House Surgery Flyer was produced and delivered to new estates in Kendal

•Torchlight Procession – the 3 Kendal GP practices worked together on a joint GP practice float. Our efforts won the Best Business and Commercial float award!

I have attached a virtual meeting agenda for you all to view and associated documents to give comment on.

Please feel free to email me by 16th December with your feedback and also how you would like the Patient Participation group to develop in the next 12 months.

Many thanks
