Description

Station 1 - skating - backwards skating - single leg c-cuts, make a c:touch a knee, alternating c-cuts, step in fronts, step behinds
Station 2 - player dumps the puck into the corner. he/she sprints to the corner and retrieves the puck moving up toward the blue line. The player indirect passes off the boards before the tire and then cuts back in to retrieve the puck. He/she power turns at the blue line back toward the net. They pass off the tire and then collect the puck and turn toward the goal. They pass the puck off the passer and then shoot on goal. The next player goes once the player turns toward the net.
Station 3 - agilities - Players perform a figure 8 around the cones while bent over and touching a milk crate. They come out of the figure 8, hop over the bumper and immediately get a pass from the coach. Focus the players on keep their skates moving through the shot. The same drill is performed on both sides of the red line to increase touches and decrease lines.
Station 4 - race for the puck with a twist. X10 and O7 race to the puck the first person to the puck passes to X11. X11 and the winner of the race immediately go back 2 on 1 against the loser of the race. The winner of the race becomes the next X11. Focus on quick transition from offense to defense and vice-versa.
Station 5 - small area game - numbers scrimmage. split the players into 2 teams, one on the left and one on the right. Coach yells out a number and dumps the puck into the zone. The number corresponds to how many players enter the game. Example if the coach yells "12", then 1 player from the left team enters and 2 players from the right team enter. If the coach yells "31", then 3 players from the left enter, and 1 player from the right enters. Have fun with it. Let them play for 20-30 seconds and then reset. The first players in the line should be the players closest to the center.
