Statements to include in church service or publications

Some volunteers choose to share their story and information about organ, eye and tissue donation with their faith community. Feel free to share these sample statements with your congregation during services or in your church’s bulletin or newsletter.

Ø  Several volunteers have donated flowers to their church in honor of their donor or loved one. Some choose their favorite flower; others choose to donate Easter Lilies on Easter Sunday. If you have flowers placed on the altar at your church, you might want to consider including this statement during services or in the bulletin:

o  The flowers on the altar today are in honor of my donor, (name), who gave me the gift of a (organ) and renewed life.

o  The flowers on the altar today are in honor of my (son, daughter, parent, spouse, etc.) who so generously gave the gift of life through (organ/tissue) donation on (date).

Ø  April is National Donate Life Month. Please support organ and tissue donation as an expression of the highest of humanitarian ideals. We ask that all members of the congregation consider this gift in the name of Christ, who gave his life so that we might have life in its fullest. Talk to your family and register to be a donor on your driver’s license or by visiting www.DonateLifeMN.org.

Ø  Our congregation supports and encourages organ and tissue donation as the ultimate gift from one person to another. April is National Donate Life Month. Take a moment to discuss organ and tissue donation with your family. Please consider making this gift in God’s name. You can make a difference!

Ø  April is National Donate Life Month. Our congregation recognizes the life-saving and healing benefits of organ and tissue donation and encourages its members to add DONOR to their driver’s license or to register as a donor online at www.DonateLifeMN.org. By doing so, they attest to their commitment upon death to giving organs and tissues to those in need as part of their ministry to others in the name of Christ, who gave his life so that we might live.

Ø  April is National Donate Life Month, a time for us to renew our support for the life-saving gift of organ and tissue donation.

Ø  More than 123,000 people are waiting nationally for a life-saving organ transplant. In Minnesota more than 3,000 of our neighbors are on the waiting list for an organ transplant. YOU have the power to give the GIFT OF LIFE. Commit to organ, tissue, and eye donation. Check YES on your driver’s license application or register at www.DonateLifeMN.org, and share your wishes with your family.
