Town of Erwin Building Inspections:
A Certificate of Occupancy from the Town of Erwin Building Inspector is required for all new structures requiring Electric, Water, and Wastewater services inside the city.It is the responsibility of the Customer to call the Town of Erwin Building Inspector to schedule an inspection.
Town of Unicoi Building Inspections:
A building inspection is required by the town of Unicoi for all new structures. It is the responsibility of the Customer to call the Town of Unicoi Building Inspector to schedule an inspection.

Connection Fees:
Electric and/or Water$20.00
Deposits:A cash security deposit will be required of any Customer before electric or water/wastewater services are supplied.Deposit amounts are determined by payment history with Erwin Utilities and Customer’s credit history. A letter of credit from another utility is not acceptable in lieu of a cash deposit.A Customer’s deposit is transferable to a new location, provided all current charges are paid in full at the current location.If a customer is disconnected for non-payment, an additional deposit amount may be required. Deposits made after July 1, 2013 will be refunded upon disconnection of services.
Billing:Customers receive statements approximately 15 days prior to their due date. Failure to receive a bill does not excuse customer from payment. Each route has a specific due date. Please check with an Erwin Utilities' account representative for your route and monthly due date.
Paperless/E-Bill:Electronic statements are available by signing up online at
Budget (Levelized) Billing Plan:This plan is available upon request to all residential customers who have been receiving service at their present location for at least twelve consecutive months. This plan provides residential customers a method of paying their monthly electric bills based on the rolling average of their last twelve-month's billing, plus any adjustments for rate increases which have occurred during that twelve-month period. On this plan a customer’s payment will fluctuate. Late payment of bill may result in removal from this program. Sign up in person, by phone, or by mail.
Due Date Adjustment:Social Securityrecipients may have their due date changed to the 5th of the month. Proof of being a social security recipient must be presented at office of the Distributor. Late payment of bill may result in removal from this program.

A payment drop box with envelopes, for checks or money orders only, is provided for your convenience.

Meter Tampering: It is unlawful and dangerous for individuals other than authorized Erwin Utilities’ representatives to connect or disconnect electrical service or otherwise tamper with electrical meters. State law provides strict penalties for such infraction and legal action will be taken.
