Title:Program Director

Status:Regular, full time, exempt position

Starting Salary:$37,000 – 43,000 DOE, plus some benefits

Imagine Possibilitiesprovides progressive daytime services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through care, creativity and community and is licensed by the State of Oregon to provide services to children and adults. Founded in 1959 as the ARC of Washington County by pioneering families that came together within the community, we celebrate a relentless progressive spirit of wanting meaningful opportunities for our participants, everyday. The Position:

The Program Director has direct responsibility for our four main programs:

1) The Helping Everyone Receive Equality (HERE) program which assists independent

adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities to be contributing citizens of

their community through volunteerism at various sites throughout Washington and Multnomah counties.

2) The Adult recreation activities (ARO) program provides a safe and stimulating environment as an alternative to employment through active community integration.

3) The After School Center (ASC) serves children 4-17 years of age provides after school activities that build social skills.

4) The Community Activity Program provides community based socialization and integration, and enhances independence skills.

The Program Director supervises the programs, recruits and oversees program participants and staff, develops and manages annual budgets, assists with daily management of Imagine Possibilities, and attends Board meetings as requested.

The Ideal Candidate will:

  • Be passionate about the work of Imagine Possibilities, as well as comfortable and experienced working with our participants.
  • Be articulate, able to talk knowledgably and comfortably with a wide range of participants, parents, funders, state agencies, staff and the general public.
  • Have exceptional writing skills – able to write high level progress reports that will be audited by the State for Medicaid dollars, grant reports and proposals that tell our story in an accurate and compelling way.
  • Be a strongly motivated self-starter, with outstanding organizational skills who is willing and able to consistently perform at a high level but willing to ask for help when needed.
  • Be supportive, compassionate and engaging to a wide range of people.
  • Bring joy to their work.
  • Thrive on juggling the constant demands of directing four different programs as well as jump to do any task, no matter how small, that needs doing.
  • Be comfortable in assisting whenever needed regardless of other pressing issues and timelines.
  • Have the entrepreneurial spirit to help envision and structure new programs.
  • Be compassionate to the needs of the individuals we serve and willing to help the staff whenever necessary.
  • Practice leadership with humility, generosity, inclusivity, collaboration and empowerment as key values.
  • Be a great listener who has the capacity to know when to make decisions and implement them.

This is a high level position requiring the following experience and characteristics:

  • Comfort and experience working with people with intellectual and/or developmental, as well as physical disabilities.
  • A bachelor’s or higher degree in a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven success as a high functioning multi-tasker.
  • Exceptionally well organized.
  • Great written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm in the face of chaos, breathe deeply when the day is done and come back the next day with a smile.
