CFA reporting forms
Next week all teachers bring to PLC list of students and skills mastered. We make a list of students who need intervention, set up intervention for these students and discuss strategies to be used with the students.
Sharing of strategies
All grade discussed upcoming essentials and strategies to use. Please come to PLC’s ready to share what strategies are working in your classroom.
Matrix
As of Sept 26th all CFA’s should be administered and analyzed. If you need help charting to show students please see Anne. We will be charting # of students that mastered each skill, or percent correct per skill.
As of Oct 10th teachers start PDSA in the classroom. This year classrooms should have a PDSA in Reading and Math. Both will begin with gaps/essentials. Gaps can come from CFA’s, baselines, pretest, etc.
EC PLC
The EC PLC will be focused on 4th grade math students. This area showed our biggest gap. They will be collaborating with 4th grade teachers to ensure these students are mastering the curriculum.
Issues:
Clarification needed on Writing Portfolios/staff development
Writing portfolios-Each teacher will need to keep a writing portfolio for each student. In this portfolio you will place the four district wide writing samples
Changes in Writing: Instead of the traditional writing PA, there will be 4 writing samples students will be required to do across the district. 1st and 3rd quarter will be an on-demand prompt (similar to what we’ve had in the past) 2nd and 4th quarter will be a content specific prompt that students have two weeks to finish. More information will be shared next week in PLCs.
Writing Staff Development: DPI had developed an online training module for teachers. Passwords are going to be given first for fourth grade teachers. More information will be coming to the 4th grade teachers.
Ethical Training? --Sheets will be placed in your boxes today (Friday). You can complete these using the ISS website.
Other Info
- PA’s Dates Changed: The date for the first PAs administration has been changed from Oct. 20th-23rd to Oct. 13th-17th. Scan sheets will be due to Pam Schiffman by 12:00 noon on Thursday 10/16.
- Summer School: Remember there will be no 3-5 summer school this summer due to data which demonstrated limited impact in exchange with resource input. Schools are encouraged to direct their energies to solid, results-based curriculum during the normal school year.
- Professional Development: The next training date for professional development (HYIS and CASL) is Oct 10th for K/1. TAs will meet Oct 10th at 12:30.
