Armrest options:
Removable; drop down; lock down; front locking; safety flip up or similar; wider pads; trough supports; modified height / Meets all criteria below

  • Required for postural control, safety or security during hygiene tasks or to facilitate transfers

Frame -modified height (lowered or raised) / Meets all criteria below
  • Required for independent standing or sliding transfers
  • Cannot be achieved through use of height adjustable item

Frame - bowel management modifications /
  • Standard frame or different model of shower commode has been trialled and does not allow for hygiene or toileting management

Frame – folding /
  • Provided when the person has two residences due to their care needs and folding items are required to transport items between residences.

Backrest:
Tension adjustable; Padded; Flat; modified height; Mesh / Meets at least 1 criteria below:
  • Body shape or size requires non-standard backrest to provide sufficient postural support
  • Required to allow use of lateral supports

Footrest options:
Non-standard angle; modified height or size / Meets all criteria below:
  • Standard options trialled and not suitable
  • Required for postural control, safety or security during hygiene tasks or to facilitate transfers

Headrest - custom:
Off set mounting, non-standard head rest / Meets allcriteria below:
  • Standard options trialled and not suitable
  • Required for postural control, safety or security during hygiene tasks

Lateral/thoracic supports:
Swing away or fixed /
  • The use of a chest strap, with or without tilt, does not provide sufficient postural support in order that the person can participate in hygiene tasks or for safety.

Seats:
Custom made pressure care seats or custom apertures / Standard pressure relieving seats have been trialled and are not suitable PLUS meets at least 1 criteria below:
  • Person has a history of pressure injuries
  • Person has pelvic asymmetries that require a custom seat or modified aperture in order to maintain a sitting position for toileting
  • Person’s size requires a modified aperture

CUSTOM-MADE ACCESSORIES AND MODIFICATIONS
Backrest:
Custom moulded backrests / Meets allcriteria below
  • Custom made shower commode will be used for toileting and to maintain continence
  • Alternativebackrest options with additional lateral support have been trialled and not suitable due to the need to accommodate body shape or asymmetries.
  • Not provided as part bowel management program
/ Registered occupational therapist with > 3years experience and 5 previous prescriptions of this category of equipment; plus 1 or more members of multidisciplinary team or prescribed in consultation with seating service.
Additional information to be provided in ERF:
  • Names and clinical service of members of multidisciplinary team consulted
  • Functional outcomes of trials of standard and customised items

Excluded accessories or modifications /
  • Power tilt where anitem of the same size without power tilt is available
  • Custom moulded seating inserts, incorporating a backrest and cushion of the style used in a wheelchair

NOTE: The above list is not exhaustive and EnableNSW reserves the right to make the final decision regarding the provision of equipment that is not specifically included or excluded.
