There are many factors that contribute to making decisions with money. Finding the best value is not always easy. To determine the best value, you need to consider coupons, tips, sales tax, discounts, product quality and unit pricing among other things.

Study the following scenarios and determine the best value in each situation. Be prepared to prove your answer.

  1. Walmart is having aMemorial Day Weekend sale. A customer needs to purchase a large amount of toilet paper (purchasing in bulk). The Walmart brand costs $16.97 for 45 rolls. The Charmin brand name toilet paper is $17.98 for 36 rolls. You have a coupon to get Charmin for a $2.50 discount.

  1. A Hewlett Packer printer needs replacement ink cartridges. At the local office supply store you have two choices. If you buy two cartridges,the price is $25.97 each. If you buy a two-pack, the price is $50.97. The store gives a 10% discount on purchases more than $50.
