The mission of the JROTC program here at Bowling Green High School is topromote students to work well together and help them prepare for life after high school. The JROTC program also encourages cadets to
help out in the community through service projects. One of the most important lessons that JROTC teaches is leadership skills, these skills can be utilized in the work place, school, and especially in the
military. Also the lessons of teamwork and cohesion can be applied later on in life.
NEXT SLIDE
The curriculum in JROTC serves to improve student leadership abilities and learn how to work with peers as a team. These can both be used inside and outside of the classroom.
NEXT SLIDE
Ladies, gentlemen, the battalion organization…
NEXT SLIDE
In the battalion staff we work together as a team to ensure that the rest of the classes go smoothly. We are also required to meet the same standards as the other cadets in regard to the uniforms, discipline,
and curriculum. At the same time we see to the needs of all the cadets as well as the JROTC program itself.
NEXT SLIDE
The Purple Battalion is student led and oriented. As students take their positions seriously and show the necessary qualities of a leader they can move upward in rank and position. As students take new
positions they must learn leadership skills and greater responsibilities. This then leads to the training and managing of other cadets. In order to be promoted cadets must have good grades in all other classes, having a good disciplinary record within the school, and wearing the JROTC uniform correctly.
NEXT SLIDE
JROTC also builds many core abilities such as capacity of life-long learning, Communicate using verbal, non-verbal, visual, and written techniques, taking responsibility for your actions and choices, develops citizenship in the school and community, treat self and others with respect, and to apply critical thinking techniques. Everyday people in everyday situations can utilize each of these abilities.
Subject to your questions I will be followed by Cadet Captain Marlow.

To maintain the ROTC program, one factor that we must maintain is the organization and records of all ROTC cadets. Records must be kept correctly to insure accurate count of issued uniforms,
people in classes, and other precise measurements. It is my job to make sure that all that data is recorded and organized in the JUMS program. Our electronic database, or JUMS, allows the JROTC program to record cadets and their information on an electronic database. This database is used to keep track of Cadets information as it applies to JROTC such as awards, rank, and other personal information. This program allows easy access to Cadet Records and keeps an accurate count of those that have been involved in the JROTC program.
NEXT SLIDE
The mission of our JROTC program is to motivate young people to be better citizens.
NEXT SLIDE
The database and recorded sources also allow the JROTC program to record the enrollment statistics for the past years in JROTC. You can now see the number of students enrolled in the JROTC program for the last six years. This helps keep track of how well the program is functioning.
This slide shows the number of students in the LET 1 through LET 4 for the 2013-2014 year. This also demonstrates the fact that we are retaining more high quality students in recent years than in years past. This years opening enrollment was ___ cadets.

helping prepare long-range training plans, the S/3 must integrate the curriculum plan, LAB plans, and activities throughout the year.
NEXT SLIDE
On Tuesdays and Thursdays the cadets study the curriculum from the JROTC instruction books and discuss how they could utilize this information in the real world. Much of this can help you in everyday
life as well as in times of need. Some of the included training involves first aid and map reading.
NEXT SLIDE
When the Master Training is completed, on Mondays and Wednesdays the cadets and the rest of their class do squad and platoon drill in the rifle range. As this takes place, the platoon leaders test the
knowledge of other cadets on drill and ceremony. Uniform inspections also occur on some Mondays and Wednesdays, and while cadets are inspected they are tested on chain of command. P.T. or Physical

informed of upcoming activities in the JROTC program. We offer many activities for our cadets to participate in and encourage them to help in community service and after-school extra JROTC activities.
A web page is also made for easy public access to the JROTC program at Bowling Green High School. At the web site, you can access pictures of various Drill Team and Color Guard meets while also you can view the different activities we do in class and trips that we take. Our web site allows people to see what we do in JROTC and how our program functions. In addition to the web page and newsletter those who are not
in the JROTC program can see pictures of JROTC activities in the hallway outside of the classrooms.
NEXT SLIDE
Our JROTC program involves acts of community service for our cadets to participate in. We have had canned food drives, a service learning project, Greenways Commission Survey, and marched in various parades such as the Veterans Parade, to show our respect to the community. We believe that we must give back to the community so that we can make it a better place for people to live.

By achieving a district conference, eight activities are produced throughout the year among these four different schools. From the district conference and the different activities produced, this provided the amount of activities to increase among the schools.
As you may or may not know, there are some students that participate in other academic activities besides JROTC and JROTC clubs such as drill team, rifle team, and color guard. Therefore the district conference
was helpful in the amount of travel time. We are very appreciative of the amount of travel time saved and therefore try to hold as many activities as we can throughout the year. We also have support from
the National Guard and the Army itself. They help us in the cost of food for the Organization Days.
NEXT SLIDE
One of the most important events from the district conference was Organization Day. This includes competitions not only from our school, but also from Warren Central, and Warren East. Organization Day helps the schools cadets become acquainted with each other along with the instructors from those schools. Orienteering is a new activity involving our school along with the other three schools in Warren County. During Orienteering we will use our knowledge of compass and map reading for competitions. For the past three years we have had an annual joint Military Ball with the other four schools. Last year, the Military Ball was held at WKU’s South Campus. The military ball featured Debra Williams. The students that compete in the WKU Drill Meet are the cadets that are involved in the Drill Team and Color Guard here at Bowling Green High School. Those cadets then compete in events such as Rope Bridge, different PT tests, and a mystery event.
Subject to your questions I will be followed by the cadet battalion Executive Officer.
