October 11th Town Hall

Discussion / Felicia informed the council about the 10/11 scheduled Town Hall sessions with Fr. Hendrickson.
The group briefly discussed the recent Race Relations Panel discussion held on 10/4. It was very informative and well attended.
The style of the upcoming Town Hall was also discussed.
Conclusions / Town Hall sessions are being held on 10/11/16 at 11:30am and 3pm in the Harper Center ballroom.

Felicia asked the group if they would be interested in having the Provost Committee come and speak to SAC. The answer was yes.
The new strategic plan has a self-nominating component for the committee. This is new and different from previous plans.
Rich Rossi suggested we invite Marketing/Communications to a SAC meeting.

Discussion / The lunch invitation will be for staff with E-M grades only. There is a good number of interest.

MLK Committee

Sarah asked for nominee ideas for the Service Awards. Kayman Nixon is handling the awards on the student side.
SAC may be asked to assist with the MLK events in January.

Treasurer’s Report
Shavonne Washington-Krauth
Discussion / Shavonne gave the treasurer’s report.
SAC’s annual funding of $1,500 came in August. That puts the total at just over $3,000. She ordered 300 SAC brochures.
Shavonne suggested purchasing a stash of SAC polos. Sheri Bacon suggested looking at Lawlor’s and Al Bante Marketing.
Conclusions / Jasmine Harris made a motion to order 20 extra SAC polos.
Sarah Seconded the motion. Motion carried.

President’s Office Report
Rich Rossi
Discussion / Rich spoke about the United Way appeal starting soon. It will run for two weeks starting on 10/31.
He also spoke of Race Relation panel on 10/4. Over 500 attended and it went very well and rather long. There will be more planned.
CU is searching for a new Chief Diversity Officer. Fr. Hendrickson would like to see this position filled by 1/1/17. They are using an
Outside firm, Isaacson & Miller for the search.
The Opus Prize Week events will be the week of Nov. 14. Most events are first come first serve. The only event that requires a ticket,
which is free, will be the Thursday night event. Tickets can be ordered online.

Discussion / Lynne said that there will again be no increase to benefit premiums. Benefit renewal will begin 11/2.
The Performance Management system is ready for 2016-2017 goals.
