To Music Directors, Teachers and Principals,

St. Michael Lutheran is privileged to be hosting the Thirty-third Annual Lutheran Schools Music Festival and would like to invite your music groups to participate.

The Festival is a wonderful opportunity for students, directors and parents to listen to and perform for groups from other Lutheran schools and to be evaluated by competent Christian musicians. The Festival is for all age groups in Lutheran Schools throughout the Florida-Georgia District. Each school may enter one group per category of choir, band and bell group. Schools with more than one group in any of the three categories may send a request to enter more than one ensemble. We will try to honor your request if there is room in the schedule.

Registration Information

Please fill out and return the registration form and the performance information page each performing group.

Copy and paste the information for the performance groups as many times as needed. Type in your information and email them back as attachments to .

We would like to receive your Registration Form by January 17, 2014 or sooner so we can create the schedule and return you final information that first week of February.

If you need a little more time to prepare your Performance Information Forms, we would like to receive them no later than February 4, 2014.

The scoring information and judges rubrics are for your own use in coaching your groups and do not need to be filled out. We will prepare your actual judges adjudication sheets from the performance information you return.

Registration Costs: $100 per group, plus $2 per participant ~ (Students in more than one group, pay $2 only once). Please mail this in with your registration forms.

General Festival Information

Choirs will perform in the church; bands, bells and other instrumental groups will perform in the gym.
For choral performances we have a newer 6’grand, a Kawai digital piano, a pipe organ, and sound equipment and personnel for recorded accompaniment. For bands/orchestras we have two tympani and a bass drum available. For bells we have five 6’ tables with pads.
Groups may perform three pieces, preferably demonstrating a variety of styles, voicings, etc., within a 15 minute period.
Plan to bring 3 copies of your music, one for each judge, with measures numbered. Give these to the room monitor as you prepare to perform. You will pick them up later with your critiques and awards. (Reminder – no unauthorized copies.)
To maximize the learning and festive experience, plan to be an audience for other performers as much as your time will allow. (Our school will be in session that day, so we are also inviting classes, parents, and church members.)
Lunch and snacks will be available for purchase throughout the day. Please indicate if you will be eating lunch with us (burgers, hotdogs, pizza, salads, etc.).
Chaperones should be with all groups at all times.
Each student will receive a medal and a certificate.
Each group will receive a certificate of achievement in addition to critiques.
The next mailing will include the schedule, directions to Saint Michael, a map of our campus and parking, a lunch menu, and instructions for the day.
