Our Lord Jesus Christ King of the Universe

2 Samuel 5:1-3: Because David was so loved as a leader, the elders of all the tribes anointed him king of Israel at Hebron. King David shepherded the people from then on.

Psalm 122: 1-2, 3-4, 4-5: "Let us go rejoicing to the house of the Lord."

Colossians 1:12-20: God’s Son brought the people into the reign of forgiveness and love. He heads the body, the church, and has primacy in all things, making peace through the blood of his cross.

Luke 23:35-43: The soldiers made fun of Jesus on the cross, offered him bitter wine, told him to save himself if he was the Christ, and told him to put an inscription over his head: “This is the King of the Jews.”

~ ST. STEPHEN CATHOLIC STEWARDSHIP APPEAL ~

The Catholic Stewardship Appeal offers the people of God in the Diocese of Jefferson City an opportunity to respond to God’s call to share our gifts with those most in need. You further God’s mission by participating in the Catholic Stewardship Appeal and making a gift to support the work of the diocesan church. If you have already responded, thank you for whatever gift you have given. If you are still thinking about it, please consider making a pledge today. We count on your prayerful and financial support to help meet the various needs of parishes, missions and schools in the diocese. So far, Saint Stephen Parish, Indian Creek has raised $2,834 of your parish goal of $6,500, with a total of 13 parishioners participating. Thank you to all who have donated!

~ BLOOD DRIVE ~

A Red Cross Blood Drive will be held Monday, November 14th at Holy Rosary's KC Hall from 1:00-6:00 PM. All donors will need to bring a state-issued photo ID. Also, if you would like to speed up the process of your donation, you can fill out the questionnaire online the day of the drive at www.redcrossblood.org/rapidpass. Thank you!

~ FROM THE PASTOR'S DESK ~

Thirty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time

I wish to express my sincere appreciation to those of you who participated in last weekend’s Stewardship Sunday appeals: the in-pew solicitation for the Catholic Stewardship Appeal and the every other year the parish’s Time, Talent and Treasure appeal. The parish’s strength and vitality is measured by everyone’s generous and willing participation in the life and ministry of the parish. The CSA envelopes and the Time, Talent and Treasure tri-fold will be available at the entrances of the church for the next couple of weeks.

The Parish Mission begins with today’s Mass. I wish to take this opportunity to welcome back Father Richard Gielow, C.M. to our parish as he leads our Mission. These days will gift each of us with a renewal and refreshment our Faith. I know each of you join me in both welcoming back and extending to Father Gielow our gratitude for these days of prayer and enrichment.

The schedule of the Parish Mission is as follows:

Monday, November 14th: The regularly scheduled Prayer Service at 7:30 a.m. is cancelled

Mass at 7:00 p.m. with reception following in the Knights of Columbus Hall.

Tuesday, November 15th: There will be no 7:30 a.m. Mass

Mass at 7:00 p.m. with reception following in the Knights of Columbus Hall.

Wednesday, November 16th: There will be no 7:30 a.m. Mass

Mass at 7:00 p.m. followed by the Sacrament of Penance (four priests will be available for Confessions)

There will be a reception following in the Knights of Columbus Hall.

Thursday, November 17th: There will be no 7:30 a.m. Mass

Mass at 7:00 p.m. (a collection will be taken up to support the Vincentian Fathers in their ministry)

There will be a reception following in the Knights of Columbus Hall.

The regularly scheduled Mass with the school students will be held on Friday morning, November 18th at 8:20 a.m. as the Parish Mission will have concluded.

This afternoon at 3:00 p.m. the Holy Doors at St. Peter Church, Brush Creek will be closed. A Liturgy of the Word Service will be held and the Holy Doors will be closed at its conclusion. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend this special ceremony, mindful that God’s mercy never closes to those who seek Him with sincerity of heart.

Mark your calendars that Mass on Thanksgiving Day, November 24th, will be celebrated at 7:30 a.m. A collection will be taken up at the Mass on Thanksgiving morning to benefit the Monroe City Food Bank.

Sr. Eileen's birthday is tomorrow, November 14th. A birthday card will not reach her by tomorrow, but she will so appreciate hearing from St. Stephen and Holy Rosary parishioners. Her address is 4707 Broadway St., Box 180, San Antonio, TX 78209.

~ SERIES OFFERED TO PRAYER GROUPS ~

We will be offering the DVD series; “Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible” for any small groups that would be interested in participating. There will be sign-up sheets in the church vestibule for the next couple of weeks and then we will order the materials to get started. This is not a seasonal series so it can be shown in your groups according to your time frame. This is a continuing series with follow-ups on “The New Testament” and “Revelations”. There will be a nominal fee for the DVD, but workbooks will be furnished. If you are not in a small group and would like to be please sign up and we will get you in a group. ~ MINISTERIAL ALLIANCE T-SHIRTS ~

The Monroe City Ministerial Alliance is selling T-Shirts and sweat shirts to help show Christian unity here in Monroe City. Shirts can be purchased at Holy Rosary's rectory.

~ FOOD BANK ~

The Monroe City Food Bank is looking for volunteers to help unload the truck on the third Thursday of each month between 3:00-4:00 PM. They are also looking for volunteers to help distribute food on the third Friday of each month anytime between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM. If you would like to volunteer or have any questions please call Jina McClintic at 573-248-6750. The November Food Bank will be held Friday, November 18th from 9:00 AM-6:00 PM.

~ MULTICULTURAL MASS AND CELEBRATION ~

This year’s Multicultural Mass and Celebration is also our diocesan ceremony marking the close of the Jubilee of Year of Mercy. Please join Bishop Gaydos and members of our cultural groups from across the diocese and the world to recognize the Mercy of God and the richness of our diversity. Beginning with a Mass “Culminating the Year of Mercy,” the afternoon will also feature a potluck dinner filled with ethnic delights and performances representing the music and dance of various cultures. ~ CHRISTMAS IS CARING ~

The Holy Rosary Christmas Outreach is working with the Monroe City Hometown Volunteers Christmas is Caring this year to help provide Christmas to members of the Monroe City Community who are in need. The collection process for Holy Rosary will be the same as in years past. All donations will be distributed through the Hometown Volunteers to members of our own community. Boxes will be placed at each entrance of church for donations. There will also be tags at each entrance with items needed. We put out tags as applications are received. Sometimes these applications are a little late. We will try to keep each church supplied with tags. Each child receives an outfit, new under clothes and 2-3 toys. Other donated toys, clothes, etc. are also appreciated. If you are making a monetary donation, please make the check out to Monroe City Hometown Volunteers. Monetary donations can be dropped in the collection basket and marked “Christmas is Caring”. They can also be mailed or dropped by with the Holy Rosary Representative for Hometown volunteers, Shannon Quinn at 622 James Lane. If you know of a family in need, applications can be picked up at City Hall. Collection will continue until December 10th with distribution on December 17nd.
