Meeting Minutes
June 24, 2015
Council Members Present: Msgr. Michael Reed, Father Richard Schamber, Bill Gibson, Joe Courey, Kate Lewis, Chris Gay, Molly Leonard, Audrey Gibson, and Jim Cashman.
Also Present: Gene and Martha Skalsky and Dawn Gagnon.
Msgr. Reed opened the meeting in prayer.
This extra meeting was called to review changes proposed with the top floor of the Education Building. The meeting began with an update on our building project and our operating budget that was just approved. It was discussed that our weekly tithing would need to increase to cover the new budget.
Questions were raised about whether the increase in utilities for the second floor was factored into the budget. Chris Gay questioned where our biggest source of power is pulled from. Dawn Gagnon said they did not focus on that but they did factor in a projected increase.
The marketing and advertising expense was questioned by Molly Leonard. Monsignor explained that we have a billboard up year round to guarantee a good spot for the festival advertising but that we also have a message about our Church up all year. The sign is on Avalon.
A letter was discussed that is being sent to Rob Bennett by Monsignor Reed, the Finance council and the Parish council. The letter outlines all of the proposed additions to be approved. Monsignor Reed mentioned that some of these things such as the covered walkway could be left off but that he feels they are needed. Joe Courey mentioned that we previously had agreed as a Council that these things would be good and called for a vote. A vote was called to agree to all of these additions to our building plan and was passed.
Gene Skalsky mentioned that it should be verified that the correct kind of paint on the downstairs hallway walls and floor is going to be used to prevent wear. Molly Leonard also mentioned the risks of people slipping also. Monsignor assured both that the contractors would use the correct materials.
Gene Skalsky also brought up that a better toilet dispenser should be installed in the new bathrooms to hold more rolls of paper. He was assured that there would be sufficient toilet paper dispensers.
The meeting was closed in prayer by Father Schamber.
