“The LORD upholds all who are falling and raises up all who are bowed down.

The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food in due season.

You open your hand; you satisfy the desire of every living thing.”

(Psalm 145:14-16 ESV)

A Food Pantry Prayer:

Lord, let me hunger enough, that I not forget the world’s hunger.

Lord, let me hunger enough, that I may have bread to share.

Lord, let me hunger enough, that I long for the bread of heaven.

Lord, let me hunger enough, that I may be filled.

But, O Lord, let me not hunger so much that I seek after that which is not bread,

nor try to live by bread alone. Amen*

My dear friends,

I give thanks to the Lord for your generosity in serving at the Food Pantry ministry, and in giving food to share. This month will be our fourth straight month of hosting the Food Pantry distribution; in March the distribution will move to St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church.

Last year, in January 2017, the food pantry served 188 families. This year, in January 2018, the food pantry served 264 families! That is a 40% increase year-over-year. We give thanks to the Lord for the abundance of food we have had to share with those in need. We have yet to run out. We pray there wasn’t such a huge need in our community, but still, God provides. God is giving them their food in due season.

We ask that if you can, to please continue to fill the shopping cart in the coat room with food for those in need. We also need your prayers—that God would continue to bless this ministry and help us do our best to serve, sustain, and grow the food pantry ministry as needed, in cooperation with the other churches in the Conemaugh Ministerium.

Thank you for sharing your bread! Thank you for sharing your time! The Lord is filling us with His Grace, a surprising, overwhelming grace. Strengthen us O Lord, to serve those who are hungry in the community. And let us all long for and hunger for the true bread of heaven, Your Son Jesus Christ. All this we pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Pastor Kevin

Thy Will Be Done

A Series of Services for the Season of Lent

Come and Join Us Each Week

Week 1 February 21, 2018 at 7:00:

God’s Will And My Inadequacy

Join us for the Thy Will Be Done special service for Week 1 of Lent. In this service we remember that, at first, Moses did not think he could free the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. But God gave him confidence to set his people free. In Lent we remember that God sent his Son to do his will and set all people free from the slavery of sin.

Week 2 February 28:

God’s Will And My Dreams

Join us for the Thy Will Be Done special service for Week 2 of Lent. In this service we remember that, anointed by God to rule in Judah, King David followed God’s will to shepherd his people, but often failed to live up to God’s dream for him. We welcome the Good Shepherd into our lives who fulfills God’s dream perfectly to gather his wandering sheep into the sheepfold of heaven.

Week 3 March7:

God’s Will And My Identity

Join us for the Thy Will Be Done special service for Week 3 of Lent. In this service we remember that, in humility, Mary dutifully accepted the role God had given her to become the mother of our Savior. That Son would later accept his role, faithfully following the path his Father had in mind for him to save us all.

The Conemaugh Valley Ministerium

A Series of Services for Lent

Each service in this series focuses on a biblical parable that connects to Lenten themes. Each parable’s plot weaves a unique message about what we receive through the crucified Christ.
