A clean-up of the church basement will take place on Sunday, August 21, 2011 immediately after coffee hour. All parishioners are asked to help in this effort to prepare the basement for more active use in our church, and to make God's House as clean as possible. Please help us make this event as productive as possible by removing any kitchen supplies or other items which should be stored in the social hall or elsewhere in the church complex before the clean-up day. Because of some of the work which needs to be done in this project, please consider bringing old clothes to change into.
(VBS) Encounters of Christ! (VBS)
All children five and up are encouraged to come and spend three evenings with us at St. Michaels Orthodox Church for this year’s Vacation Bible School entitled Encounters of Christ! We will be focusing on the themes of friendship, faith, and thankfulness as they are illustrated in New Testament stories of those who encountered Jesus first hand. Participants can look forward to a highly interactive experience full of games, art, and music. The camp will also include a service project, pizza party, and desert! The Vacation Bible School will be held from 6pm-830pm on July 26, 27, and 28. All those who plan on attending or are interested in volunteering are asked to sign up in the Narthex or by contacting Dan Sulpizi. We are anticipating a memorable opportunity for kids to learn more about Orthodoxy through entertaining and engaging activities while interacting with each other in an Orthodox environment. We do ask that a parent remains at the church during the Vacation Bible School, but we are considering providing a bible study for the parents if there is enough interest. If you have any questions or concerns do not hesitate to contact Dan Sulpizi at 484-354-4022.

Martyrs and Passion-Bearers Boris and Gleb
Troparion - Tone 2
Righteous passion-bearers and true fulfillers of the Gospel of Christ, chaste Boris and guileless Gleb,
you did not resist the attacks of your brother, the enemy, when he killed your bodies but could not touch your souls.
Therefore, let the evil lover of power mourn while you rejoice with the angels standing before the Holy Trinity.
Pray that those who honor your memory may be pleasing to God, and that all Orthodox Christians may be saved.
Kontakion - Tone 3
Today your most glorious memory shines forth,
noble participants in the passion of Christ, holy Boris and Gleb,
for you call us together to sing praises to Christ our God!
Praying to Him before your sacred images,
we receive the gift of healing by your prayers,
for you are indeed divine healers.

Romans 12:6-14 (Epistle)
Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching; he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.
Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.
Matthew 9:1-8 (Gospel)
So He got into a boat, crossed over, and came to His own city. Then behold, they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, "Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you." And at once some of the scribes said within themselves, "This Man blasphemes!"
But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, "Why do you think evil in your hearts? For which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven you,' or to say, 'Arise and walk'?
But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins-then He said to the paralytic, "Arise, take up your bed, and go to your house."
And he arose and departed to his house. Now when the multitudes saw it, they marveled and glorified God, who had given such power to men.
