General Job Description:

The Preschool Director is responsible for overall leadership, administration and educational components of the preschool program. The day to day operations of the Preschool will be carried out in accordance with state licensing regulations, developmentally appropriate practices and principles of sound Catholic education. The Director directly supervises all preschool staff and volunteers. This position reports to the Parish Administrator. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Administration

  1. Conduct registration and enrollment process according to the established policies.
  2. Facilitate and promote ongoing communication between the Preschool, Parish Elementary School and the Parish at large (bulletin, website, Parish Council, Preschool Advisory Committee).
  3. Maintain contact with governmental regulatory agencies and assure that the Preschool conforms with all health, safety and licensing regulations and requirements.
  4. Supervise collection and record keeping for tuition and fee payments.
  5. Work with parish office to carry out payroll and benefit administration for staff.
  6. Order all equipment and supplies.
  7. Prepare and manage the Preschool Department budget in cooperation with the Parish Accounting Office.
  8. Attend monthly Parish all staff meetings.
  9. Facilitate and attend all Preschool Advisory Committee meetings.

Staff Development:

  1. Recruit and hire faith filled, qualified staff.
  2. Ensure that staff and volunteers have all required training and staff development for state and Archdiocesan requirements (including VIRTUS).
  3. Provide staff in-service opportunities for professional growth.
  4. Conduct regularly scheduled staff meetings.
  5. Observe and evaluate teaching staff, including formal annual performance evaluations.
  6. All areas of staff development will be in accordance with early childhood education core considerations in developmentally appropriate practice.

Program Development:

  1. Maintain a current Parent Handbook and brochures which includes policies and procedures of the preschool.
  2. Communicate regularly with parents regarding programs, meetings and child development information through email, monthly newsletter, parent conferences and child portfolios.
  3. Schedule and plan family events, parent orientation, back to school night, children’s Christmas programs, etc.
  4. Plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum which meets the individual needs of all students. Program should include spiritual activities and opportunities.
  5. Maintain records for each child including: evaluations, health reports, attendance and parent contacts.
  6. Coordinate and direct summer program.

Miscellaneous Duties:

1.  Special Projects as assigned - Such projects might include updating Policies and Procedure Manuals, researching salaries and tuition of other preschools, etc.

2.  Other duties as assigned by the Pastor

Qualification Requirements:

The Preschool Director must be a practicing Catholic. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education. The Director must have prior teaching and Director level experience. Must be able to meet the state requirements for Director of a 100+ child preschool. Must be self-directed, have strong organizational and interpersonal skill and demonstrate a solid understanding of the importance of the relationships between the child, teacher, family and school environment.

Salary will be commensurate with experience.
