HOLY WEEK AND EASTER

This is the most important time in the Church’s year, and the celebration which extends over three days, Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday evening into Easter Sunday is the single most important celebration of our year. Our services will be at the usual times:

Holy Thursday Mass of the Last Supper 7.00 pm, with adoration at the altar of response in the hall until 10.00 pm

Good Friday Solemn Commemoration of the Passion of Our Lord, 3.00 pm. Stations of the Cross and Veneration of the Cross, 7.30 pm

Holy Saturday Solemn Easter Vigil at 9.00 pm

PROGRAMME FOR LENT in St. Matthew’s.

·  Fr Hill presents the remaining Lenten Talk in St. Matthew’s, the remaining talks: in the church, on the 5th Tuesday of Lent 4 April, beginning at 7.00 pm. All of this year’s talks are based on the readings for the three most important days of the church’s year that comprise the single event of the EASTER TRIDUUM – Holy Thursday Mass of the Last super; Good Friday Solemn Commemoration of the Lord’s Passion; Holy Saturday Solemn Easter Vigil. This final session on 4 April will also include a prayer for re-dedication for Readers and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, and the commissioning of new Extraordinary Ministers. We hope that all Readers and Extraordinary Ministers will make a special effort to attend.

·  Stations of the Cross, Wednesday 5 April, 7.00 pm

·  We need even more people than usual to help with music etc. during Lent, and particularly in Holy Week. Our resources are going to be limited this year, so please: if you can help with the Lent and Easter Liturgies in any way, please let Fr. Hill know asap!

***Thank You!***

Gift Aid Donors

Thank you again to all donors who contribute so generously. Claiming back tax from these donations increase their value so are most welcome. Again we propose to issue envelopes to those who use them for one or both collections.

Those who pay solely by standing order, have not been issued with envelopes and this has helped to reduce our costs.

New envelopes are available from the room at the back of the Church. They can be used from Sunday 2ndApril 2017. From then on pleasedo notuse old envelopes as your number may have altered.

Those parishioners who pay tax but are not Gift Aid Donors, are asked to seriously consider signing a declaration form and handing it to either of our priests. These forms are to be found at the back of Church. Now more than ever when we are embarking on alterations to our Church, it is an easy way of increasing our revenue.
