St. Lawrence University Ski Club Constitution

Article I

Name

The name of this organization shall be the “Ski Club”. This is the current name for the former Alpine Ski Racing Club, and the former Alpine Ski Club.

Article II

Purpose

The Ski Club shall be made up of three elements: Transportation, Racing, and Freestyle.

First, it provides opportunities for any skier, telemark skier, or snowboarder to get to the mountain. This includes transportation to and from Titus Mountain where we travel weekly; Whiteface, Gore, Jay Peak, and other mountains we travel to on weekend trips. We facilitate transportation for anyone interested in skiing or snowboarding who might not be able to arrange it otherwise. We support any downhill skier, telemark skier, and snowboarder interested in our club.

Second, the club provides opportunities for students who do not make, or do no wish to compete on, the Varsity Alpine Ski Team (which we are in no way affiliated with), a chance to continue their racing careers. Our organization provides students with the unique opportunity to continue racing and training at the collegiate level.

Third, the club provides opportunities for freestyle skiers on campus and at local mountains. Freestyle skiers are able to enjoy large features at many of the mountains we travel to, and also compete in our annual rail-jam on campus.

Article III

Membership

All St. Lawrence students are eligible to become members of the Ski Club. Because we do not specifically provide instruction for beginners, prior experience and/or arrangements for instruction while participating in any of our trips is recommended.
