St. Lawrence School Board Minutes
March 4th 6:30pm

Jerry made a motion to approve the minutes from the January meeting. Seconded by Todd. No February meeting was held.
Principal’s Report (please refer to separate Principal’s report handed out at mtg)
In old business Sherry reported that the Teacher Handbooks will be sent out to the teachers. Sherry reported on Kindergarten/Pre-school Registration. Three year old class still has openings but was anticipating late registrations.
Teacher Negotiation Committee, (Julie, Todd, Deb, and Jerry) reported that Teacher Negotiations arecompleted after consulting with the Finance Committee. Julie submitted letter to St. Lawrence Teachers on February 16, 2009 on items regarding the academic school year 2009-10.
On other new business was discussion if Mardi Gra (in February) should continue or not? Much discussion on the pro’s and con’s of this fundraising event for the school.
Final discussion was to keep Mardi Gra because” the kids love it.” Sherry explained what the Mardi Gra funds go for versus the St. Lawrence School Foundation funds. Julie suggested for future solicitations to local businesses that Mardi Gra & Gala committees together plan only ONE solicitation for BOTH Mardi Gra and the Gala at the same time. These had been some confusion in the past, that businesses say they have donated already but then find out it was for the Mardi Gra and not for the Gala and vice versa.
Discussions voiced about not soliciting to local businesses and only accept donations that parishioners donate? No decision made.
Have the raffle prizes more “kid focused” No decision made
Another issue at hand is to find a new volunteer Director for Mardi Gra and Brenda Block has been in charge the last 20 years. Sherry and all school board members present will continue to support/? Manage (in the future the Mardi Gra fundraiser.
Motion made by Deb, seconded by Jerry to adjourn at 8:00 p.m. Next Meeting is scheduled for Monday evening, April 6th, 6:30 p.m.
