July 2016 Officers Meeting (7/27/16)

Meeting called to order by President, Rory O’Brochta at 11:15am
HSA members are invited to the monthly SAB meetings.
Fundraisers and events discussed for this coming year:
- Cookout (HSA to pay)to be set for Wednesday, August 17th from 6-8pm. Dedication for a new butterfly garden in Honor of Coach Quinn. Fun night for students and parents. Pizza and sandwiches purchased from Big Y with families to bring a dish to share. 2 families have responded so far.
- Walk-A-Thon – AnetaSzczypiorski wasconferenced in the meeting to discuss this fundraiser. Date set for this event is Friday, October 14th from 2-3:30 at the school.
- Wings Students will be able to participate.
- Children will walk the school/church property. We will block off rectory entrance for no more than ½ hour (we will check with the church office on when and where is a good.)
- Mrs.Wright will reach out to St. Joe’s HS for students who need service hours to help out with this event. (need about 10).
- Looking for other ways for the students to collect money other than parents contributions – we will ask Big Y and Stop & Shop to shake cans on one or more weekends and also church collections.
- We will have 4 stations/games along the route for kids to play.
- Need incentives for the kids to reach their goal for each week. Sabrina Coville and Aneta will think of some ideas
- Goals: $100 for free entry to basketball tournament
- $80 for weekly dress down days
- Abby will set up a PayPal account for walk-a-thon payments for family and friends to sponsor/donate and also setup a template for kids to send to family and friends asking for donations.
- Tuition Raffle – per Jaime, we are unable to set this up this up with the state of CT until a separate checking account is open exclusively for this raffle. Dr. Higgins and Abby are looking into getting this done. Our application to the state, open bank account and tickets printed need to be complete by the start of the festival. We will be selling tickets at the festival, at church and the basketball tournament. Drawing will be the final night of the tournament on November 14th. Prize of the raffle will be $5,000 to an accredited grammar school, high school or college. Cost of each ticket would be $100 and we will sell 100 tickets to profit $5,000.
- Budget item – We still owe the diocese $20,000, any funds raised over that will be the schools to spend as needed. Going forward, SAB will be responsible or the $60,000 fee to the diocese.
- Italian Festival – A St. Jude booth will be available for the school to get our name out into the community. Wednesday night will be St.Jude night with $5.00 off bracelet night. We will sell tuition raffle tickets, signup for Stop & Shop and have kids “spin a wheel” for a prize.
- Coach Quinn Memorial Garden – Will be located in the back of the school behind the playground. Will break ground possibly August 17th the night of the family picnic. August 6th setup for the greenhouse. All help is welcome. We are looking for plant donations for the garden – drop off time to be set up at a later date.
- Easy Fundraisers – Target Red cards (5% of purchase goes to school), Amazon Smiles, Big Y card, Stop & Shop and some Credit Cards are able to donate your points to the school.
- Spirit Stick of the Month – sign up is required at the beginning of the year – need minimum of 100 students to sign up
