IC FINANCE COUNCIL will have a meeting on Thursday, August 17th at 7 PM in Marian Hall to review & sign the financial reports.
SJ & IC: ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY, a holy day of obligation is Tuesday, August 15th. Attend Mass either on Monday, August 14 at 7 PM at SJ or on Tuesday, August 15 at 8 AM at SJ. Masses on Tuesday at IC are 6:30 AM & 7 PM.
IC CCD PROGRAM NEEDS TEACHERS FOR GRADES 5 & 6; and we also need additional substitutes. SJ CCD Program also needs substitutes. Call Kim at the rectory 495-5241 if you can help. Volunteers will need backgrounds checks before they can teach, so please don’t wait until the last minute to step up and help.
COMMUNITY MOVIE NIGHT – SATURDAY, AUGUST 19TH AT 8 PM at the New Germany Ballfield (weather permitting). In case of inclement weather, we will use the Beer Hall. Please bring your blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy the movie. Free admission. The youth group will be selling refreshments.
ANNUAL ANNIVERSARY DAY LITURGY: All couples celebrating their 1st, 5, 10, 25th, 40th, 50th, 55th and 60+ Wedding Anniversary in 2017 (and their families) are welcome to attend the Annual Anniversary Day Liturgy with Bishop Mark. You may attend either Sunday, Sept. 17th at St. John Gualbert Cathedral in Johnstown or Sunday, Sept. 10th at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in Altoona. Both locations are handicap accessible. Both liturgies begin at 2 PM with refreshments after the mass for couples/families. Reservations must be made through our parish office. Call Pam at the rectory 495-5241. Deadline for registering through your parish is Friday, August 18th.
5th ANNUAL ED WESS MEMORIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT at Ebensburg Country Club, Saturday, September 2nd at 1:00 PM. The event will be a 4 player scramble, $80 per player. Payments may be made to Ed Wess Memorial Tournament. All proceeds benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Registration forms are in the back of both SJ & IC Churches. Sign up by August 19th. RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE is Tuesday, September 5th from 1:30 PM to 7 PM at New Germany Grove Hall. Volunteers and donors (please give) are needed. Call Twila Flynn 495-5247 if you can help.
SJ PICNIC NOTES: Raffle Tickets & Country Store Chances - Please return all sold or unsold tickets soon. If you cannot sell the tickets, please return them by picnic day, and they can be sold at our picnic. WORKER LISTS must be turned in to Pam at the rectory by Tuesday, Aug. 15th. GOB MAKING will be on Thursday, August 24th starting at
5 PM in the church social hall. Help is needed and would be appreciated. COOLER OF CHEER: If anyone has any unopened bottles of liquor, and would donate them for the Cooler of Cheer, please bring to the rectory as soon as possible. ANGEL FOOD cakes are needed for our church picnic. Please take your donated cakes to the Grove Hall on picnic day. CAKES will be made on Saturday, August 26th at 8 AM in the Grove Hall kitchen. Help is needed and appreciated. GIFT CARDS are needed for the "Gift Certificate Booth". If anyone can donate one, please drop off at the rectory. TIP SEAL BOOTH items are needed. If you have any handmade or other items, please call Violet at 495-4084. CHICKEN CLEANING will be Friday, August 25 at 8:30 AM at the Grove Hall. Help is really needed and would be appreciated. HELP IS REALLY NEEDED IN THE DINING ROOM AND LUNCH STAND, along with other various stands. If anyone can help in anyway, please call Pam at the rectory at 495-5241. This is YOUR parish and all parishioners are asked to do their share, either before, during or after our picnic. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.
