A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in loving memory and honor of Staff Sergeant Daniel Fannin.

With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to Staff Sergeant Daniel Fannin, and we pause in silent reverence for his soul.

WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Daniel Fannin, of Morehead, Kentucky, was born on April 9, 1983, and he traversed these earthly bounds on April 27, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Daniel Fannin was the beloved husband of Sonya Fannin, he was the caring son of Sharri Jones, and he leaves behind many other family members who loved him dearly; and

WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Daniel Fannin was a 2001 graduate of Rowan County Senior High School and he enlisted in the United States Air Force shortly after graduating; and

WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Daniel Fannin was assigned to the Air Force’s 552nd Operations Support Squadron at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and had been deployed with the 361st Expeditionary Reconnaissance Squadron at Kandahar Air Base in Afghanistan; and

WHEREAS, the life of Staff Sergeant Daniel Fannin ended prematurely when the MC-12 aircraft that he was manning crashed near Kandahar Air Base; and

WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Daniel Fannin’s awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Ribbon, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Air Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Air Force Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster, the Air Force Achievement Medal with one oak leaf cluster, and the Bronze Star; and

WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Kentucky has the highest respect for Staff Sergeant Daniel Fannin and is deeply grateful for the ultimate sacrifice he made for the freedom of all Americans; and

WHEREAS, the passing of Staff Sergeant Daniel Fannin has left a void that cannot be filled, and he is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The House of Representatives does hereby express its profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of Staff Sergeant Daniel Fannin and extends to his family and many friends its most heartfelt sympathy.

Section 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of Staff Sergeant Daniel Fannin.

Section 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is hereby directed to transmit two copies of this Resolution to Sharri Jones, 1081 Dry Creek Road, Clearfield, Kentucky 40313.
