Duties:

Applications are invited for the position of Cardiovascular Technologist II with the Cardiac Cath Lab., Health Science Centre. This is a senior technologist position functioning as a resource person to Cardiovascular Technologist I’s.

The primary purpose of the Cardiovascular Technologist II position is to work as a member of the Cardiac Cath Lab. Team during invasive cardiac procedures. Work involves operation of highly specialized monitoring and other equipment during invasive diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures, including cardiac catheterization, PCI, electrophysiology studies and device implant. The technologist uses computer systems with various operating systems for monitoring, data entry, analysis, and report generation.

The Cardiovascular Technologist II is a senior technologist who functions as a resource person to Cardiovascular Technologist I’s, providing clinical guidance and instruction, assisting with unit orientation for new staff and students. The incumbent will have thorough experience assisting with the variety of Cardiac Cath Lab procedures, including electrophysiology studies/cardiac ablation. The incumbent will assist with the collection of utilization data and with evaluation of new products and equipment.

Qualifications:

·  Graduation from a recognized (approved) college with a Diploma in Cardiovascular Technology or a Degree/Diploma in a health-related field with thorough recent experience (3 to 5 years) as a Cardiovascular Technologist I is required.

·  Successful completion of a Diploma in Electrophysiology is required.

·  Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) designation will be considered an asset

·  A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.

**If there are no qualified applicants, consideration will be given to a Cardiovascular Technologist I who is willing to complete the Electrophysiology Diploma and necessary training to meet the required qualifications within a two year timeframe.
