Course Description
Students will develop and emphasize on physical fitness skills including; agility, coordination, reaction time, speed, power, rules, strategies, team sports, individual sports and other activities. These physical education courses give students the opportunity to measure and develop to his/her fullest potential and abilities in physical growth, neuromuscular development, emotional control, and social awareness.

Oregon Standards
Expressive and Efficient Moving-

1.  Demonstrate knowledge of a variety of motor skills.
PE.HS.EE.01- Demonstrate competency (basic skills) in complex versions of three or more of the following categories of movement forms and more advanced skills in one or more movement forms.

2.  Understand and apply movement concepts.
PE.HS.EE.02- Utilize the following components to critique an activity: skills and strategies, use of feedback, positive and negative aspects of personal performance, appropriate practice and conditioning procedures.

3.  Understand rules and strategies for a variety of physical activities.
PE.HS.EE.03 Communicate to others basic strategies specific to one team activity and one dual or individual activity.

3.  UNEXCUSED NON SUITS

1=C 1=F FOR THE GRADING PERIOD (CANNOT BE MADE UP)

4.  LEAVING CLASS EARLY WILL RESULT IN THE GRADE BEING LOWERED ONE FULL GRADE FOR EACH OCCURENCE.

5.  STUDENT HAS 2 DAYS AFTER THE ABSENCE TO EXCUSE THE ABSENCE IN THE OFFICE. IF IT IS EXCUSED THEY MAY MAKE UP AN ABSENCE IN THE FOLLOWING MANNER:

6.  TWO MILES, EIGHT (4) LAPS AROUND THE TRACK, OR EQUIVALENT DISTANCE IN THE GYM IF THERE IS POOR WEATHER.

-  LAPS MAY BE RUN, JOGGED, WALKED, OR ANY COMBINATION THE STUDENT FEELS COMFORTABLE WITH

-  THE LAPS DO NOT HAVE TO BE ALL MADE UP IN ONE DAY

-  LAPS MUST BE MADE UP WITHIN 10 DAYS OF RETURNING TO CLASS-THIS TIME LINE CAN BE EXTENDED BECAUSE OF PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS UPON THE STUDENTS RETURN

-  IT IS THE STUDENTS RESPONSIBILITY TO SCHEDULE MAKE UP SESSIONS WITH THE TEACHER

7.  A WRITTEN PROJECT WILL BE PROVIDED FOR STUDENTS WITH EXTENDED MEDICAL

ABSENCES/CONDITIONS THAT WILL NOT ALLOW ANY PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

8.  STUDENTS MUST MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE DAY-THEY WILL BE EVALUATED FOR EACH COMPONENT OF THE CLASS

A. CONSEQUENCES

1. ANY VIOLATION OF A P.E. DEPARTMENT RULES/PROCEDURES THAT IS COVERED IN THE STUDENT HAND BOOK DISCIPLINE POLICY, WILL BE ENFORCED AS DESCRIBED

A. EXAMPLES WOULD BE SKIPPING, BEING TARDY, FIGHTING, HARASSMENT, ETC.

2. OTHER VIOLATIONS WILL BE DEALT WITH IN THE FOLLOWING MANNER:

A. VERBAL WARNING

B. IF THE PROBLEM PERSISTS AND THE STUDENT IS NOT MAKING AN EFFORT TO FOLLOW THE DEPARTMENT RULES/PROCEDURES, THE REFERRAL PROCEDURE WILL BE FOLLOWED

7. NO CELL PHONES/ELECTRONICS IN THE GYM

-BRINGING PHONES TO PE WILL RESULT IN A LETTER GRADE DROP

8. BIG LOCKERS ARE TO BE USED ONLY DURING THE CLASS PERIOD TO STORE LARGE

ITEMS. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR BACKPACKS OF VALUABLES ON THE BENCHES

A.  CHECK YOUR LOCKS TO AVOID THEFT OR LOSS

B.  IF YOU LOSE YOUR LOCK, NOTIFY US RIGHT AWAY!!!

C.  STUDENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE TO TURN LOCKS IN AT THE END OF THE SEMESTER. YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR YOUR LOCK IF IT IS NOT CHECKED BACK IN.
