SSE 7101 THE NATURE AND SCOPE OF SOCIAL STUDIES
Course Description:
The course exposes the students to examine the factors involved at the birth of Social Studies. It also looks at the theoretical outlook in Curricula formulation: policies, professional development, implementation and evaluation stages
Objectives
- To enable students to examine the foundation of social studies.
- To examine formulation of social studies.
- To examine the philosophical foundations of social studies.To assess the role of technology in resource development utilization and conservation.
Course Content
Analysis of nature and types of resources. Natural resource distribution and utilization. Human activities on the natural resources. Human-made resources. Impact of social cultural, and political policies on human impact on resources. Role of technology in resource conservation, development and utilization.
