5 IEM REPORTS

WASC Update

Cyndi Rachel thanked families for attending the WASC kick off and parent/student time slot. WASC was impressed with the parent turn out and how passionate parents were with the opportunities they receive with our school. After they review all the information they will notify us in May. Our school will then announce their decision and recommendation on our school listserv.

LCAP Update

Cyndi encouraged parents to watch the listserv for announcements requesting parents to provide input regarding where they’d like to see LCAP funding used. The LCAP process should include all stakeholders including parents, students, staff, community members.

Parent Nights

Cyndi reminded everyone the Parent’s Night announced on the listserv was Thursday, March 17, 2016. Various departments would be there offering strategies for setting personalized learning goals for students. Additionally, local vendors would be available to meet with parents and share how they could support their students. Anyone not on the school listserv should contact their ES to get sign up as the listserv was the main form of communication for announcements.

Resource Center

Brandy Anderson reported on South Sutter’s new Resource Center in Yuba City. Plans included lab, conference room for Parent Council meetings, storage, stream table, library, curriculum store, reading area, and place to hold LR meetings. Cyndi thanked the Parent Council for their valuable feedback during previous meetings regarding a location where parents could access resources without having to rely on ESs to pick up materials for them. IEM heard their suggestions and was able to utilize extra LCAP funding towards a center. She then reported on permits and construction details including goal to open with a kick off event before school started in fall.
