2015 APPLICATION

The SS. Peter & Paul Ladies Philoptochos Society is pleased to announce the availability of a religious studies and camp scholarship to be awarded to a qualified student of any age who is planning on pursuing Orthodox Christian religious education studies or attending Orthodox Christianreligious camps (undergraduate/graduate or higher studies, including camps Ionian Village, Fanari etc.)

Rules and Eligibility Requirements

1.The Philoptochos Scholarship is designed to serve students who want to further their education in Orthodox Christian Religious Studies.

2.In awarding the scholarship, the applications will be evaluated on the following criteria: Cost of attending: Fanari Camp, Ionian Village and Hellenic College or any other Orthodox Christian Religious Educational Institution.

3.The family of the applicant must be a good standing steward of SS. Peter & Paul Greek Orthodox Church of Glenview for the current and previous year.

4.Applicants may be any school age appropriate to the application.

5.After all completed applications are submitted, the Scholarship Committee reviews them and selects the finalists. The Committee for a final decision then interviews the finalists.

6.The finalists will be invited for an in-person interview by the Scholarship Committee on Monday, May 11, 2015.

7.The Scholarship Award will be presented in Church onGraduate Recognition Sunday on May 17, 2015.

8.The recipient of the Scholarshipmust attend the Award Presentation on Graduate Recognition Sunday, May 17, to personally accept the award.

10.The Philoptochos will present the Scholarship monetary award upon receipt of official notification of acceptance from the applicant’s college/university, camps.

Two letters of recommendation are required: one from an educator and one from your parish priest. Two scholarship recommendation forms are enclosed and must be filled out and mailed separately by the educator and parish priest.Both recommendations must be received no later than Friday, May 9, 2015.

For Applicants specifically applying to college/university or higher studies. Please compose and attach to this application a brief typewritten essay stating your accomplishments and your life’s goalincludingwhy you are interested in orthodox religious studies.The application and essay must be submitted together.
