Sr. Payroll Administrator

Wedgewood Pharmacy has an immediate opening for a Senior Payroll Administrator. We are conveniently located in Swedesboro, NJ only 30 minutes from Philadelphia and Wilmington. The person we seek has extensive knowledge of payroll systems and processes as well as payroll tax requirements in multiple states.

Essential Functions:

1. Responsible for the timely, accurate and compliant preparation, payment and record keeping for bi-weekly payroll for 250+ employees Ensure payroll operations comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) along with government regulations and compliance with State and Federal payroll tax reporting regulations.

2. Ensure accurate and timely quarterly and year-end Federal, State and Local tax filings and reporting as needed (940, 941, W-2, W-2C, etc.)

3. Acts as point of contact for payroll & 401K audits and is responsible for audit preparation of payroll tax returns and payroll records for the financial audit

4. Work closely with the General Ledger accountant to prepare payroll journal entries and research variance in reconciliations of payroll and related general ledger payroll liability accounts

5. Ensure timely and accurate reporting to management for approval and signoff of bi-weekly payroll while using his/her own discretion to prioritize tasks in order to adhere to predetermined deadlines and tight time constraints.

6. Prepare department reports for management review which analyzes key payroll performance metrics.

7. Ensure data integrity of payroll and related subsystems and compliance with document retention policies.

8. Critically review and analyze current payroll, benefits and tax procedures in order to recommend and implement changes leading to best-practice operations.

9. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies.

10. Interpret new legislation impacting payroll

Qualifications:

  1. Strong accounting skills and financial acumen; knowledge of tax and payroll law and experience in auditing the filing of quarterly and annual payroll tax returns including W-2's
  2. In depth knowledge of, and experience with, payroll calculations and processing
  3. Knowledge of applicable local, state and federal rules and laws
  4. Well organized and demonstrated ability to investigate payroll and tax issues and implement solutions
  5. Strong MS Excel skills
  6. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  7. Strong mathematical and analytical skills
  8. Effective prioritization and problem solving skills
  9. Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  10. Proven ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Physical Requirements (if applicable):

  • Normal office activity including keyboarding, interacting with others, participating in meetings, extended periods of sitting in an open office environment
  • Ability to work extended hours and/or occasional weekend if needed
  • Time off should be scheduled around payroll weeks when at all possible

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred
  • At least 7 - 10 years of payroll experience with complete accountability for successful multi-state payroll
  • 7 - 10 years’ experience working with relevant payroll software and demonstrated proficiency in reporting and manipulation of data (UltiPro experience a plus)
  • Efficient user of Microsoft Office Suite software
