ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PRINCIPAL

Elementary Building To Be Determined

Work Assignment begins August 2015

Summary:Under general direction, serves as the instructional leader and chief administrative officer of the school. Develops, implements and maintains the vision and mission statement of the school; involves students, staff, parents, community and stakeholders; understands student requirements and academic standards; analyzes student achievement results; plans, sets and implements goals to improve student achievement.

Qualifications:

  1. Possess an advanced degree, Masters or higher, from an accredited institution with emphasis in educational leadership, school administration and/or curriculum or other related field.
  2. Possess and maintain a current Michigan Administrative Certificate.
  3. Successful experience administering instructional programs preferred.
  4. Ability to promote and support parent community leadership and involvement.
  5. Strong collaborative approach to working with staff, teachers and families.
  6. Enthusiastic, caring, and understanding of elementary school aged students; good interpersonal skills that enable relationships to form with students, staff, and parents
  7. Fair and intuitive problem solving skills and the ability to treat each incident without bias.
  8. Effective organizational skills and systems that demonstrate the ability to complete daily tasks as well as long range tasks.
  9. Experience in implementing research-based practices around improving student achievement.
  10. Strong instructional leadership and instructional expertise.
  11. Such alternatives to the above as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Reports To: Superintendent of Schools

Supervises: Faculty andstaff of assigned elementary building.
Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities shall include but shall not be limited to the following:
  • Provide leadership for the planning and management of the total instructional program of the school.
  • Direct, supervise and evaluate instructional and non-instructional personnel of the school in compliance with Board of Education policy.
  • Develop the master schedule for teacher placement.
  • Maintain a high standard of student conduct and enforce discipline according to the code of student conduct.
  • Supervise the maintenance of accurate records and reports.
  • Direct and oversee maintenance of the school facility to ensure the health and safety of students, staff and the public.
  • Administer the school building budget.
  • Actively engage in developing and implementing curriculum with staff.
  • Actively engage in the school improvement process with staff.
  • Maintain positive relations with parents, parent groups, school volunteers, business partners, and other related agencies.
  • Communicate school policies and procedures clearly to staff, parents, and community.
  • Promote team work and work collaboratively with all groups within the school community to increase the achievement of all learners
  • Keep current on legal, financial, and educational reform initiatives.
  • Establish a culture of high expectations for both academics and behavior.
  • Attend Board of Education meetings as requested.
  • Attend Central Office Staff meetings as requested.
  • Serve on various District-wide committees as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Starting Date:August 2015

Terms of Employment:

Salary and compensation package in accordance with the Romeo Administrator Association agreement.

Salary range for 2014-2015 was $87,479 - $99,497.
