High school senior girls in the communities served by Springfield Medical Care Systems (SMCS) – including the high schools of Springfield, Bellows Falls, Green Mountain, Black River, Fall Mountain, Stevens, Windsor, Compass School, Vermont Academy, and Woodstock – are eligible to participate.
The 62nd annual Apple Blossom Cotillion will be on Friday and Saturday, May 45, 2018at Riverside Gymnasium in Springfield, Vermont.
The Director of the 2018Cotillion isMadison Moreau.While relatively new to the local area, she has been studying and teaching dance for more than 15 years. Her choreographic pieces were featured at Hampshire College, where she was a student, and she worked for the Basketball Hall of Fame as a choreographer. She also volunteered with the Good Company Theater, a non-profit community organization in Granby, Connecticut, before moving to Springfield, Vermont.
The Cotillion is a fund raising event on behalf of Springfield Hospital and SMCS.
Judging is done by a minimum of five independent individuals, who have experience with or interest in community productions, and have no conflict of interest with any contestant.
Participation
Applicants who submit a completed application by the due date will participate unless the number of applicants exceeds the capacity of the production.
In that case, a random drawing will be held on December 7to determine the participants.
Escorts
Contestants are responsible for selecting their escorts. Contestants and escorts work together throughout the rehearsals and the performances.
Rehearsals
Rehearsals are important and mandatory. Any contestant who misses 3 or more rehearsals is ineligible for the title of Queen or Court member. An attendance coordinator from the Cotillion committee will be present at every rehearsal. A contestant’s eligibility is based on this attendance record; the final decision rests with SMCS staff.
Rehearsals are on Sundays from 1-3 pm at Riverside Gymnasium.
The first rehearsal/orientation session is Sunday, January 7, 2018.
Parents are encouraged to attend the orientation part of this session. The week of the Cotillion, there are rehearsals Monday – Thursday evenings, April 30 - May 3.
Cost
For contestants, dresses will cost $175 and shoes will cost $35, for a total cost of $210.
A deposit of $100 is due at the first rehearsal. Full payment is due when delivered.
For escorts, tuxedo rentals will cost $140 and a deposit is due by February 25 and full payment is due when delivered.
