2013 CSA CONTRACT

This season, beginning sometime during the month of July, you will receive a variety box of fresh, great tasting produce. You can expect to a receive 25-pound variety of fresh produce in your variety box most weeks they are in season, and we will give you a chance to sample more crops throughout the season. We want your family to enjoy access to great tasting produce when in season.

Some of the crops we are growing this year are: Several varieties of lettuce, several varieties of radishes, varieties of carrots, red beets, gold beets, swiss chard, sugar snap peas, snow peas, different varieties of spinach, fresh herbs (basil, rosemary, oregano, sage, mint) yellow squash, lemon squash, zucchini, heirloom butternut squash, winter squash, purple hull peas, tomatoes (red, purple Cherokee heirloom, cherry), eggplant, jalapeno peppers (three varieties), bell peppers (red, green), heirloom yellow Italian bell peppers, chili peppers, green beans (three to four varieties), pickling cucumbers, slicing cucumbers, okra, and more. We are NOT certified organic, but our vegetables are grown as naturally and as sensibly as possible, as we also eat our own produce that we grow. We use organic spray on our vegetables and we are certified through CDA to do so in a safe manner. Of note, we will also be able to obtain local Olathe sweet corn but we are not growing the corn ourselves. We also have other local growers in the area (NOT organic) that can also provide other varieties of fresh vegetables such as potatoes, onions, melons, etc. We guarantee that the produce you receive will all be locally grown in Colorado. This is just to give you somewhat of an idea of what we have to offer during the season.

In addition to your variety boxes, we can also take special orders of fruit or vegetables for you to can or freeze. We just ask that you contact us in advance before our scheduled delivery, and we will quote a price for certain fruits or vegetables during the peak of the season. Cherries and apricots are the first fruits in. Stone free peaches are generally ready in August. Apples are usually available in the latter part of the season. If you want a box of Olathe sweet corn, pickling cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, etc. to can or freeze, you can contact us in advance before our scheduled delivery. A four to five day advance notice would give us ample time to plan to pick and pack and to ensure availability. We will discuss prices on the single fruit boxes and single vegetable boxes when you place your order. We will do our best to give you the best price possible on special orders.

This is a non-working CSA only. We currently have slots for 75 boxes maximum per delivery. For delivery, we MUST have at least a 25 box minimum order due to the cost of fuel and labor costs. If fuel costs exceed $4.00/gallon, the price is subject to change, as we have no control over this. If you make arrangements to pick up your own boxes, there is no minimum order. Our variety vegetable boxes are priced accordingly at $36.00 per box if delivered to one prime location in your area. You may also make arrangements to pick up your own box at our location in Palisade for $31.00 per box if you so desire. Your boxes will be delivered biweekly (two boxes per month unless specified otherwise). This contract guarantees that you will receive two boxes of produce each month, which totals eight boxes for the months of July, August, September, and October. We require a payment of $288.00 in advance upon signing the contract with us.

Every variety box will be virtually the same. There will be NO substitutions. Members can swap produce amongst each other once they get their boxes if so desired.

To help ensure that we can keep our prices down, we ask that you empty your produce boxes and return the boxes at the next scheduled delivery time. It is always a good idea to empty your boxes immediately when you get them home. This allows you to inspect what you have in your boxes and helps to keep the boxes intact as well as relieve the weight on the produce that is in the bottom of the box to prevent bruising and spoilage. This will also allow us to recycle the boxes for the next scheduled delivery if the box is in good condition. Unfortunately, empty produce boxes have gone up this year just like everything else.

If you are interested in this program, we are taking names, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses. This is to allow us to communicate with you to let you know what we have available at a certain time. We will communicate through email and by FACEBOOK unless you specify otherwise. We would like to know if we have enough people interested in this program; therefore, we have set a deadline of April 15,2013 to receive this contract.

We would also encourage all members to go to our FACEBOOK page (facebook.com/sprigsandsprouts) as we post periodic updates about any and everything that is going on at our farm and availability of produce/fruit available. Therefore, please click “LIKE” on our main FACEBOOK page if you have a FACEBOOK page to receive current updates.

However, it is very important that you “LIKE” us on FACEBOOK and/or give us an email so we can update you in advance with availability of produce and when our first scheduled delivery will be available.
