Description:

Spreadsheet and Database management teaches computer application skills to be used by anyone in today’s high-tech world. In addition to these two applications, word processing components will be presented for integration. This course is highly recommended to all students for their future career and personal use. The course fulfills the computer literacy requirement for graduation.

Class Rules

  • Food and drink are not allowed in class.
  • Remain in your assigned seat at all times unless okayed by instructor.
  • Respect all people and their belongings.
  • Arrive to class on time and ready to work.
  • Bring the following materials to class: planner, pen or pencil, notebook with paper, and a binder to hold handouts.
  • No backpacks, iPods, headphones, cell phones, or other electronic devices are allowed in class.
  • Review student “code of conduct” in your planner. All rules apply to this class as well.
  • Do not attempt to fix any computer problems on your own. Report any problems to your teacher immediately.
  • Before leaving each day:
  • All students must log off network
  • Workstations must be clean & materials put away
  • Chairs should be pushed in when dismissed to allow easy access through the room.
  • Unacceptable or inappropriate behavior may result in any of the following: warning, detention, parent contact, points taken from Employability Skills grade, or office referral.
  • Weekly extra credit opportunity: Students who participate in the Professional Business Dress Day each Wednesday will receive 2 bonus points per week.

TECHNOLOGY ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY

Use of the School District’s technology and Internet access is a privilege, not a right. Inappropriate use may result in loss of that privilege as well as consequences defined in our student code-of-conduct.

Grading: Total grade is based on the following activities & assessments: Tests, Quizzes, Projects, Classroom Work/Homework, Assignments, & Employability Skills. Grades will be posted in the classroom (by student ID) and on MI Star.

Employability Skills Evaluation- Employability skills are those traits that are looked upon frequently by an employer – positive attitude, neat appearance, good work habits, etc. This class will help you develop these traits so that you will be better prepared for college or a career. The following behaviors will reduce your employability grade:

Stopping Work Early, Unprepared for Work, leaving your work area without cleaning up, Off Task, Inappropriate Classroom Behavior, & Asked to leave classroom.
