Time:11.30am for a 12pm start.

Team Sheets:Teams are limited to 16 players for the day. (recommended)

Competing teams must provide:

  • 1 new genuine softball plus 1 spare genuine leather ball (in reasonable condition) for each game [must be official size]
  • Gloves, helmets, bats, catcher’s gear (masked helmet {with throat protector} chest & knee guards, catcher’s glove)
  • A First Aid Kit
  • A competent scorer and score book

Score sheets are to be returned by the winning team.

The convener is in sole charge of the day and their decision is final.

CONDITIONS OF COMPETITION

  1. Softball is conducted under the rules of Softball Australia Ltd unless otherwise stated.
  2. Coaches should note that this includes the ‘Dropped third strike' rule and the ‘Infield fly’ rule.
  3. The format will be one single match with the winner of that match progressing through to Region.
  4. Division match will consist of a 60 minute game or 7 equal innings. The match will be between John Monash and Brentwood.
  5. Dimensions for all levels will be Square 18.3m and Pitch Length 12.2m.
  6. Helmets must be worn at bat and base. Players removing their helmet whilst running will be given out.
  7. Catchers are to wear face masks with throat protection, and chest protectors.
  8. The 9 batter rule applies to ALL levels. That is, if the 9th batter for that innings has batted and the fielding team does not have 3 out, then any runners on base receive a run and the side batting is then deemed to be out. For ALL levels the 10 run rule shall apply after 5 innings and the 15 run rule after 3 innings.
  9. Two time-outs are permitted per team per game.
  10. If at the completion of even innings from the call of side out there remains less than 5 minutes before the scheduled end of the game, a further innings shall not be commenced.
  11. Any forfeit shall be scored at 9-0. All teams are to consist of nine or more players per game.
  12. All players must be attired in matching tops, same colour pants and socks. NO jewellery is to be worn. Navel rings MUST be taped. All batters and base-runners must wear approved helmets. The catcher must wear a helmet, mask, throat and chest protector and shin pads. Players not correctly dressed will not be permitted to compete.
  13. If a team is late for the start of their match for reasons beyond their control and the team communicates with the convener, then the convener will try to accommodate the team as best he/she can.
  14. If a team is more than 10 min late without notice or communication or in the convener’s opinion their lateness makes the draw impracticable, then they will be penalised one run for every 10 minutes late, or part thereof.
  15. The winner of Senior Girls Softball will continue on to the Region final, which is to be held on the 2nd May 2017.
