Preparation

  1. Printing of score sheets and order of events.
  2. Gather all equipment needed.
  3. Line Marking of the events – Running track etc

On the Day

  1. Mark the roll.
  2. The Principal will welcome everyone and give a quick introduction to the day.
  3. A march past will be performed followed by some war cries.
  4. Teachers will then go to their event, please read the enclosed rules to ensure a smooth and fair running of the event.
  5. Once all groups have completed your event please send your results sheet to the scorer.

Field events are broken up into the following groups:

  • Prep and Yr 1
  • Yr 2 and 3
  • Yr 4 and 5
  • Yr 6 and 7

Running races are based on age.

FIELD MOVEMENT

Staff will be allocated to each of the four field events.

Students will move around the events on a rotation basis.

20 minutes will be allocated to each event.

Student groupings: Group 1 Prep & Years 1

Group 2 Years 2&3

Group 3 Years 4&5

Group 4 Years 6&7

JUDGING FOULS

Teachers should use discretion when judging fouls in field events, especially with the Juniors. When judging Intermediates and Seniors, teachers should attempt to follow normal practices, as for district sports.

RESULTS

A recording sheet will accompany each group. This sheet is to be completed by the staff member at each activity. Results are entered for each individual on the sheet.

POINTS

Points will be allocated to each individual competitor relative to their performance against pre-determined distances/heights. ( See attached sheet).

Each individual effort WILL NOT BE MEASURED.

Sprints – 1st 4, 2nd 3, 3rd 2 & participation 1 point.

FIELD EVENTS

Field event points as per sheet.

LONG JUMP

Normal rules relating to fouls. All pre-determined distances allocated to points will be measured from the edge of the mat. Competitors will be allowed 3 jumps with points being allocated to each jump unless a foul is committed.

HIGH JUMP

Normal rules relating to fouls. Each competitor will be allowed 3 jumps with points allocated if the jump was successful. The bar will be raised in 5 cm steps from the starting height.

DISTANCE THROW/ SHOT PUT

Remind children to keep wrist locked and to walk out of the back of the circle. Foul throws will be those as per district sports rules. No warnings shall be given. Rules should be outlined to children before competition begins. Points will be allocated to competitors who better predetermined measurements.

RELAYS/SPRINTS

All students must have a run in relays.

All students must stay in their own lane.

Years 4 & 5, 6 & 7 –All students eligible.

Years Prep, 1, 2, & 3 - All students eligible.

CHIEF JUDGES AND COMPLAINTS HEARERS

The Principal

To be placed within 10mins of event.

SHIELDS

A highest points shield and supporters shield shall be awarded.

STARTER

The starter for the day will be the School Principal.
