My favourite historical figure – Audrey Hepburn

Audrey Hepburn, who had a rare beauty that everyone recognized, was born on 4th May, 1929 in Belgium and passed away on 20th January, 1993 at her home, Switzerland. She had a European accent, with her big eyes, long neck, sweet smile, melodious voice and a perfect wardrobe, which made her charming and elegant.

~ Her childhood ~

Audrey attends boarding school in England at the age of six. She was so mature that she could take care of herself at such a young age. At the age of ten, she attended Arnhen Conservatory and took dancing lessons with Sonia Gaskell who was a skilful dancer. The first time she appeared in an instructional film was in 1948, which was staged in High Button Shoes, a musical theatre in London. That was how her career began.

~Her life and Career~

Audrey always described herself as an actress who didn’t have much technique because she never learned to act. Director Billy Wilder once said, “She had not gone to acting schools nor acted in front of the mirror for practice, she was just born with this kind of quality.”

Her most popular and wonderful films are “Roman Holiday”, “Charade”, “Funny Face”, ‘Sabrina”, “Love in the afternoon”, “The Nun’s story”, “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” and “My Fair Lady”. They lead her career to the highest point. She always worked with great directors and brilliant actors.

In the film “Roman Holiday”, she played the princess, and won an Academy Award for this role and at the same year, came the Antoninette Perry Award, her highest honor. She also won the Oscar, she responded as terribly happy and truly thankful for those who had helped and led her.

In her later years, she was married to actor MelFerrer, which was the most wonderful part of her life.

At the age of 63, she died of cancer unfortunately. It was a really sad time for everybody. We had lost a marvelous actress of our dream. She was someone who could never be replaced in Hollywood.
