Spitfire launches mobile app for award-winning SIP Communicator™ service

6 January 2014

Spitfire, the leading business ISP and Internet Telephony Service Provider, has launched a softphone ‘app’ which can be downloaded to a mobile device so it can be used as an extension of the Spitfire SIP Communicator™ hosted telephony service. The innovative SIP Communicator™ service won the prestigious Comms National Award for the SME Hosted Solution category in 2013.

The SIP Communicator™ client application can be easily installed on a mobile device including iPhone and Android smart phones, allowing the device to integrate with the SIP Communicator™ service. Users can then benefit from having access to desk phone features on their mobile phones. For example they are able to transfer calls, make conference calls and have access to a central directory, all from their mobile device. It also allows mobile users to use short-number and extension dialling just as if they were using standard features from their desk phones.

SIP Communicator™ provides phone system functionality remotely hosted by Spitfire and only requires SIP compatible handsets, making the service an extremely cost-effective solution for business start-ups and small businesses that are growing and anticipate moving premises or are spread over multiple sites. SIP Communicator™ requires minimal capital expenditure because billing is based on a monthly service charge which is tax deductible and the costs are estimated to be about fifty per cent less than a conventional phone system.

For Spitfire Tom Fellowes, Sales Director stated, “We are adding constantly to the features and functionality of the SIP Communicator™ service in a way that is simply not possible with a conventional customer premises phone system. This latest mobile app innovation extends the flexibility of the system to mobile devices and is perfect for the growing number of ‘bring your own device’ users that want to use their mobile as their terminal of choice for all business telephony. We believe more and more of our customers will migrate to our hosted telephony service based on the clear economic advantages, business continuity assurance and outstanding functionality.”
