Speed Dating Book Report Guidelines

The Speed Dating Book Reports will be given April 28 and 29. Students will sign-up to present a specific book on one of the two days.

On the day of your “presentation” you will be asked to give a 1-minute presentation one-on-one to each of the “listening” members of the class. (Yes, you will be repeating your presentation about 20 times that day.) Your 1-minute presentation must include:

  • Book title and author
  • The setting
  • Names and descriptions of two or three major characters
  • An explanation of the book’s main conflict and at least two plot points
  • AVISUAL that represents the book and an explanation of howyour visual relates to your book. Your visual could include dressing like a character in the book, bringing a prop that is significant to the story, or making a posterboard.

*** Do not bring food to share just for the sake of bringing food; it must have some significance to your book.

***Also, remember that the prop MUST BE HOME MADE!

***Think creatively!!! Creativity will be a large part of your book report grade.

In addition to a letter grade, scored out of 100 points, students will vote for the “Best Presenter” & “Most-Likely to Read Your Book.” The winners of these awards will receive a candy bar and 50 points extra credit.
