Playing the game for U8 & U6

Substitutions-- You may sub on any goal kick. You may sub an injured player. You may sub on your throw-in. *You may sub on the other teams throw in - if they do so - If they do not sub you CANNOT SUB. ONE second try given in u6for incorrect throw-in. Please sub from CENTER of field.

Drop Ball -- taken at stoppage of play. (Ex. Injury) Drop ball to be taken where ball was when play stopped, not where injured player was. Ball must hit ground before being kicked or it is retaken. Goal can be scored from a drop ball.

Throw-in-- ball must be thrown on or behind the touchline with both feet on ground (no jumping), ball behind and straight over head - not from the top or side of the head. Second chance allowed for u6. There are no offsides on a throw-in. *NO GOAL scored directly from a throw-in. Goal kick would be awarded. Goalie must play a throw in (from his own team) directed at him/her with his body (no hands) or indirect free kick (IFK) is awarded to opposing team where he/she touched the ball.

Free Kicks- NO SECOND CHANCES FOR ANY KICKS.

***NOTE: All kicks must leave the 18 yd box (penalty area) or be retaken***

Indirect Free Kick (IFK)-- awarded for offsides, non-penal fouls, dangerous play, goalie delaying game -- *you may kick the ball on the ground as long as you do not endanger other players. If a player of the same team passes (kicks)the ball directly back to the goalie he must kick the ball--if he handles the ball an IFK is awarded where he handled the ball. (A miss kick is not considered a direct pass back). NO GOAL can be scored from an IFK. Another player must touch the ball before a goal is scored, if it is not touched by a second player a goal kick is awarded. (If the goalie touches the ball and it goes into the net a GOAL IS scored). ** Note: IFK, for the attacking team, within the goal area (6yd area) is taken from the goal area line (6 yds. Out) paralled to where ball was located. An IFK for the defending team must leave the 18-yd line or be retaken.

Direct Free Kick-- Goal can be scored. Awarded for penal fouls committed outside the 18yd line area (penalty area). Penal Fouls --- kicking, tripping, jumping (at player or ball), charging in a violent manner, charging from behind, hitting, spitting, holding, pushing, intentional handball. Kick taken where foul occurred, opposing players must be 10-yds away. If player touches ball twice an IFK is awarded to other team. ** Penal fouls committed within the penalty area are awarded a penalty kick.

Penalty Kick (PK)-- given when penal foul occurs within the penalty area (18 yd lines) by defending team. Penalty kick taken from 12 yd line (for

U8 ball is placed almost at their 18 yd line- one small step toward goal should be good). Ball must move in forward motion to be in play (retake). All players must be out of penal area (including arc) and behind the ball. Goalie is to be on the goal line. Goalie may move (shuffle) side to side but may not jump or wave arms.

**Note- if the goalie deflects the shot, the kicker may go after the ball and score a goal. If the ball bounces off the goal post- the kicker may not touch the ball a second time or an IFK is awarded to the defending team. (If second touch is within the goal area (6 yd area) the defending team may take the kick from anywhere within the goal area).

Kick-Off-- Kick must move forward to be in play or retake. Opposing players outside center circle till ball is in motion. Goal can be scored from kick-off. *If ball is kicked twice by the same player an indirect free kick (IFK) is awarded to the other team. NO second chances.

Corner Kick-- is awarded when defending team kicks ball out between the goal and the corner. Place ball inside arc at closest corner, you cannot touch the flag any time during the kick. Opponents must be 10-yds away. Goal can be scored from a corner kick - there are no offsides in a corner kick. *If ball kicked twice by player IFK awarded to defending team.

Goal Kick-- is awarded when attacking team kicks ball out between the goal and the corner. Defending team takes direct kick from anywhere in the goal area (6yd area). The kick must totally leave the penalty area (18 yd area) or it is retaken (*it might help to move kids one step back from line to do this). Goal can be scored on the opposing team from a goal kick.
