FAQs:

What is expected of a Special Interest Community member?

  • Attendance at Orientation:
  • Early move-in: Thursday, September 2, 2010
  • Orientation: Friday, September 3, 2010
  • In-house Meeting: Saturday, September 4, 2010
  • Programming: 6 programs per year (3 educational, 2 with Faculty Adviser). Must attend 4 of 6 programs.
  • Presence in the hall and Columbia community
  • Carrying out mission of SIC through active involvement
  • Meetings:
  • Weekly: In-house
  • Bi-weekly: With Graduate Assistant Adviser
  • Monthly: All-SIC Potlucks
  • Monthly: Connect with RA
  • Budget management ($500 per year and paperwork)

What is expected of the SIC Recruitment Coordinator?

  • Participation in all aspects of Recruitment (advertising, applications, work with Residential Programs, open houses, information sessions)
  • Coordinating SIC member involvement in recruitment
  • Ensure roster is always full and there is an alternate list

What are the SIC Housing Requirements?

  • Must have guaranteed housing for the 2010-2011 academic year
  • CC/SEAS students must be upper-class and full-time
  • Barnard students must be:
  • Upper-class and full-time
  • Only in Barnard Exchange halls
  • Applicants must be in good academic and behavioral standing and follow the Guide to Living
