Special Announcement
Emergency Management Exercise at EVHS today, Monday, November 3rd
An all-hazards emergency response exercise will be conducted on Monday, November 3rd, from 5 pm to 9 pm at East View High School. Multiple emergency response agencies such as fire, police, and EMS will be participating in a simulatedall-hazards type of incident. GISD staff will also be involved in the exercise. Only pre-approved participants will be allowed in the exercise area.
Multiple emergency vehicles will be present on the EVHS campus. Please do not be concerned if you see these vehicles and the activities surrounding them at EVHS on Monday afternoon and evening.

TOPIC: EAST VIEW

TOPIC: NJROTC COMMUNITY SERVICE FOR NOVEMBER 3 2014
All NJROTC Cadets that did not get their Event Orders turned in last Friday for the Mass Casualty Drill, you will not be needed, the list of volunteers has now been filled. The 9 Cadets that turned in their Event Orders please report in today at the EVHS front office at 4:00 PM to sign in and play your part in this evenings drill. We would like to thank all of our “hard-chargers” for their willingness to step up and help the community’s emergency responders. There will be plenty more opportunities to volunteer for those not needed today. HOOYAH Liberty Battalion!
TOPIC: UIL
The UIL academic team had amazing success in their inaugural meet in Pflugerville on Saturday! More than twenty schools participated; more than 30 students participated in most events. East view placed in the top three in all events in which they participated!
In literary criticism, Nick Bradford earned the third place spot and East View won third place in the tournament.
In ready writing, Patrick Wilson placed 4th, and Brianna Mears won 2nd and had a perfect score.
Caleb Shearer beat out the perennial winners from other districts and took first place in computer science.
If academic UIL is something that interests you, there are also math, science, and social studies competitions as well. Talk to your teachers to see how you can get involved.
TOPIC: SENIOR FUNDRAISER
Attention senior class! We have another senior class restaurant fundraiser this week at Raising Canes. It will be held all day this Thursday, November 6. Simply tell them when you order that you are with the EVHS senior class and 15% of your order will come back to us. This fundraiser is for anybody and everybody! Just be sure to tell them when you order. So everybody eat at Raising Canes this Thursday, November 6 and tell them you are with EVHS!

TOPIC: DEBATE TEAM
Congratulations to the East View Debate team. Students competed in the UIL Congressional Debate contest on Saturday. They debated against students from all the 5A high schools in the central Texas area.

TOPIC: TRUNK OR TREAT
Thanks to all the students and organizations that helped make our first Trunk or Treat event a success! Special thanks to those who hosted trunks: Interact, Diamond Queens, Softball, FFA, Spanish Club, Soccer Sweethearts, The Lockers, NHS, Cheer, Football Boosters, PTSA, HOSA, Serteens, Auto Tech, Mu Alpha Theta, and Student Council. Way to represent the East View Family and serve our community!
Student Council meeting: There is an all council meeting today after school in room 207. All officers and members should plan to attend.

EVHS Boys Basketball Try-Outs
Boys’ basketball try-outs will begin this Friday November 7. Try-out dates and times are:
Friday Nov. 7:4:15-6:00pm
Saturday Nov.8:7:30-9:30am
Monday Nov. 10: 4:15-6:00pm
You MUST have a physical on file with our trainers before you are able to try-out. If you have a scheduling conflict and would like to try-out please see Coach White or Coach Jones ASAP.
TOPIC:A TRIBUTE TO OUR VETERANS
A Tribute to Our Veteransis a community event where we honor those who have served our country. It is presented by the East View Choral Departmentin conjunction with EV Band, Drum and Fife Corps, & NJROTC.
Come join us onVeteran's Day, November 11th at 7:00 PM at the Klett Performing Arts Center at Georgetown HS. Admission is free. Students will perform for the community in a moving tribute. Veterans, some wearing uniforms or insignia, will be invited to the stage to share their rank, military branch and where they served.Afterward, veterans will lead the audience down the hall to the dessert and coffee reception.
TOPIC: KINDNESS MATTERS
A simple act of kindness has the power to change a life. Each week, students and staff will be asked to be kind in a particular way.This week's kindness challenge is to let someone go ahead of you in line - at school, at Starbucks, in traffic. It only takes a minute and will definitely make someone else smile.
TOPIC: REFLECTIONS
The world would be a better place if ... How would you finish that sentence? This is the theme for this year's PTSA Reflections program. Do you like to write? Do you enjoy photography? Do you compose songs when no one is listening? Do you draw or dance? Do youdream of being a film maker? Share your talent by entering the PTSA Reflections program. Anyone can enter and it is free! Pick up rules and entry forms at the Diamond or go to The theme is "The World Would Be a Better Place if...." The deadline for entries is Monday, Dec. 1.Entries may be turned in at the Diamond.

Hey there senior… remember last spring, early fall when you signed up to do senior service hours so you could wear a pretty silver cord at graduation? Well, how about you get those hours turned in? Jordyn Finkenkeller turned hers in. Sierra Richardson turned hers in. What about you?
