Spanish IVH Señora DelSignore 2016-2017

Expectations: At this level you have already learned many of the verb tenses and grammatical structures in Spanish, so you will be expected to put what you have learned to use by communicating in Spanish on a daily basis. This is an upper- level honors course, so your attitude, effort and participation should reflect a strong motivation to learn and use the Spanish language. A main goal of the course is for you to become proficient in speaking, reading and understanding Spanish, as well as to prepare you for continuing to the college-level course next year. Learning a language is NOT a passive activity; it is essential to participate and make an effort each day to speak and understand the language. To that end, the course is taught primarily in Spanish and it is therefore your responsibility to ask questions for clarification and/or repetition of things you do not understand.

Grading: Your marking period grade will be determined on a total-points basis; that is the total number of points you receive on quizzes and tests, projects and homework divided by the total possible points. Weekly quizzes will be given as we review grammatical topics and learn new vocabulary and structures. Speaking assessments and writing assignments will also be given each quarter and contribute to your grade. If you have concerns about your grade I am available most days after school for review and extra help: please do not hesitate to see me!

Classroom policy:

·  Daily participation is expected; you must speak a language to become proficient at it.

·  You will be expected to show courtesy and respect at all times to me and your classmates.

·  Late work will not be accepted .

·  If you are absent you will be expected to make up missed assignments and/or tests promptly upon your return to school.

·  The use of any translating app/site (such as GOOGLE) other than those designated on my website will result in a student having to redo an assignment and/or a loss of credit on graded assignments.

2. ONE-SUBJECT marble composition book for notes and journaling

3. Wide-rule notebook paper and supply of pens/pencils
