SPANISH ENGLISH NOTIFICATION FORM (AVISO)

The following page contains a Spanish-English Notification form (AVISO) that you can fill in with your boat and crew information and print as needed. This is used when going from port to port within Mexico. Keep in mind that any marina in Mexico can help you notify the Port Captain. They may charge you a fee, but that is for their services. You can also notify the Port Captain via VHF radio; some port captains use channel 14 and/or 16.

Following are instructions for using this AVISO:

  1. Fill in the gray shaded areas with the information for your boat and crew. Click on a gray block to begin typing in that block. It will expand to fit the information that you type in. The gray shading itself will not print.(For a little additional help on figuring out that to type in the field, look at the description in the bottom left corner of your screen or press F1 while your cursor is in the field.)
  2. The text in gray is the English translation of the Spanish. It is for your information and will print out with the form.
  3. You may save the form with your Boat and Crew information (save it with a new name) so that you don’t have to reenter this information when you create a new Crew List.
  4. Print only page twoso that you don’t waste paper printing these instructions.
  5. If you have trouble filling in the shaded areas, make sure that “Protect Document” is checked on the Word Tools menu.
  6. If you need to make changes to the form itself, go to Word’s menu and select Tools->Unprotect Document. This takes you out of form-filling mode and allows you to change the form as you would any other Word document. To go back to form-fill-in, select Tools->Protect Document. There is no password, so just press Enter if asked for a password.
  7. This AVISO was designed to make it quick and easy for you to print out a Mexico-style Notification form for your boat from your own computer. If you have comments, suggestions or questions on this form, email Kathy Parsons at

Special thanks to Rogelio Gregg, Marina Dockmaster at Baja Naval, Ensenada, B.C. Mexico, for his assistance in preparing this form. (
