Introduction
Space Planning 8.0 is our latest version of Prospace. Some of the functionality in the application includes:
/ The ability to include multiple planograms in the same project file will allow the user to make changes simultaneously to all variations of the same POG.
/ There is an Explorer window to improve productivity.
/ Space Planning takes advantage of 32 and 64 bit technology versus the old 16 bit technology. As a result it can provide better visuals like 3D views, better multi-tasking and improved speed.
/ In addition,Space Planning is fully windows compliant. This means that we will be able to better use pro/space+ functions from other applications and other applications functions better within pro/space.
/ Reports, charts and spreadsheets are combined into 1 function and are more powerful. In addition while creating and editing tables and charts you will be able to see what you are creating as it happens.


Choices you make at the lower levels override the levels above them.
/ For example you could have an individual item’s position merchandised left to right(position is low level), while the other items on the same shelf were merchandised right to left(fixtures is above positions), while all the other items in the plan-o-gram are merchandised with manual placement(plan-o-gram is higher level).
A Right Click will get you most of what you need to perform an operation:
/ the top part of the pop-up dialogue you get will be context sensitive commands for the object you have selected /
/ the middle part of the pop-up dialogue you get will be applicable Windows functions
/ the bottom part of the pop-up dialogue controls viewing options
Planogram Management - there at least 3 ways to use multi-project capability (multiple POGs in 1 project):
/ Have all variations of the same category's POG in one project - use this type project file where you are doing simple add/deletes etc. so you can perform each task only once.
/ Have the current and proposed only in 1 project - use this type project file when doing a major remerchandising when you will need to show comparisons of financials etc. and will likely make revisions.
/ Have multiple categories in 1 project file - where you want to do an analysis of an aisle or store for section size opportunities.
Screen Management will become more important and flexible
/ You should consider the work you are doing and have the best windows open for the work
/ If you are working with adding/deleting products you probably want the product library window open
/ If you are working with adding fixtures you probably want the fixture library window open
/ If you are working with dimensions of fixtures or products you probably want the relevant properties list opened
/ When remerchandising, set up your explorer window properties, your status bar and your toolbars accordingly
/ As a thought - create a single custom toolbar for all the functions/commands you use from toolbars where you don’t use 50% or more of the other functions/commands on the toolbar
Field Mapping is important and will grow in importance
/ A few field names have changed: movement has become unit movement; case pack has become case total number.
/ We have created and will be creating more standardized reports that take advantage of having key information store in certain fields.
/ You should have a field mapping file that was installed with the pro/space+ software for reference. It would be a good idea to review it.
/ If you have a table/chart that appears to be producing incorrect values, field mapping could be the answer to the problem.
