SP30132: Reading List: 2005/06

There is no one book that covers everything. The best general texts are probably the latest book by Banks (2004) and Beckett and Maynard (2005). If you were going to buy anything then I would recommend one of those two. You will find sections of other books relevant but you will need to hunt around a little more for relevant references for this course. There may be specific chapters in some books on values or the care and control debate so make sure that your reading is quite general. Individual lecturers will be providing additional reading lists. Please let me know if there are any publications that you have been unable to get hold of.

For relevant light reading you could try Alexander McCall Smith – ‘The Sunday Philosophy Club’
