ANNUAL SPRING CELEBRATION AT FOSS LAKE

The annual Washita National Wildlife Refuge Anniversary Celebration will be held in conjunction with the Foss State Park Easter EGGStravaganza on Saturday, March 31, 2018 from 1:00 to 3:30 pmat Foss State Park. This FREE event is put on by partners at the U. S. Fish & Wildlife Service, the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department, and the National Park Service and will include fun family activities and an Easter Egg Hunt!

Activities will begin at 1:00 pm with the Foss State Park Bison Herd feeding at the Visitors’ Center and booths at the Cedar Point Campground at Foss State Park. Come out and shoot a bow and arrow at the Archery in the Schools booth, touch and feel real animal skins and skulls, operate a real wildland firefighting hose, and see a tipi from the Washita Battlefield National Historic Site! The Easter Egg Hunt will be held at the disc golf course at Cedar Point Campground, and be divided by age groups as follows:2:30 pm - 1-2 year olds, 2:45 pm - 3-4 year olds, 3:00 pm - 5-7 year olds, and 3:15 pm - 8-12 year olds. Visitors are welcome to bring a picnic lunch before the event kicks off and are encouraged to contact Foss State Park for camping & reservations information. Washita NWR and Foss State Park together encompass Foss Reservoir and surrounding lands, providing a varied recreational experience to the public. Washita National Wildlife Refuge was established on April 15, 1961 as a feeding and resting area for migratory waterfowl. The Refuge, located on the north end of Foss Lake, provides many opportunities for public use, including 7 recreation areas and 3 walking trails that provide visitor access to open areas of the Refuge. Foss State Park was established on March 4, 1962 on the south end of Foss Lake and is one of the most popular recreational destinations in western Oklahoma. Foss State Park offers 108 RV campsites, 53 tent campsites, 2 cabins, several boat ramps, a disc golf course, a swim beach, miles of equestrian and hiking trails, and allows skiing, tubing, and other watersports on the southern end of Foss Lake.
