Meet Results:The meet will run on Hy-Tek Meet Manager for Windows. Results will be uploaded to posted on the LAC website the end of the meet.

Awards

Individual: “dog tags” for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd by gender and listed individual age classifications.

Relays: “dog tags” for 1st; 2nd, and 3rd by gender and listed relay age classifications.

Note: All sessions will run under the maximum 4.5 hours.

Sun Shelters:

Teams are welcome to bring and set up sun shelters on the deck and grassy area on the north side of the pool. One exception: There is a large umbrella on the deck. No shelters are allowed under this as this is reserved for those without shelters of their own. See facility layout on page 10.

This is an outdoor swim meet. In the event of lightning there may be delays or interruptions to the meet and possible cancellation of some or all events.

Meet Rules

Rules:Current 2014 – 2015 SNC Rules and:

1.Swimmers must be registered and carded as competitive swimmers with an Amateur Association as recognized by FINA. SNC registration numbers must be on the entry file which must be uploaded through

2.SNC warm-up procedures will be in effect at this meet.

3.The “FINA” One Start Rule will be in effect.

4.There are no qualifying time standards to swim in this competition.

5.All events are Timed Finals.

6.Age Classifications for individual awards - male and female:

- 8 and under, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16 and over.

7.Age Classifications for relays - male and female:

-10 and under, 11/12, 13/14, and 15 and over.

8.Age determined as of first day of meet, Friday July 10, 2015.

9.A maximum of 2 swimmers per relay team may swim “up” an age category in relay events.

10.Each swimmer's entries are limited as follows:

- Friday PM – maximum of 4 individual events;

- Saturday and Sunday AM/PM – maximum 3 individual events per day.

11.Saturday morning's 200 metre butterfly is restricted to ages 11 and over.

12.All events will be swum slowest to fastest by submitted entry times. Individual events will be senior seeded by gender and awards given by age classification.

13.Meet Management reserves the right to limit entries to any event, session, or the meet.Meet Management reserves the right to modify session times and event limits or listings as necessary to accommodate meet requirements and will notify coaches whenever possible.

14.Deck entries may be accepted to fill empty lanes or scratched lanes, but will not be eligible for points, awards, or prizes in those events, except at the discretion of the meet manager and meet referee. Deck entryfees will be $10.00 (HST included) for individual events and $15.00 (HST included) for relays, payable at the time of the request.

15.Scratch deadline is 30 minutes prior to the start of the affected session. There will be no penalties (or refunds) for scratches or no shows.

16.PARA swimmers will be officiated under IPC Swimming Rules for Canadian records only.

17.No diving allowed during warm-ups except during designated times for sprint lanes. Any swimmer diving during WARM-UP will be removed from warm-ups. PLEASE enter the pool feet first.

18.Sprint lanes will be available for the last 20 minutes of warm-ups. Lanes 1 and 8 will be for sprinting. Diving in the sprint lanes will be from deep to shallow only.

19.Meet Management requires that any coach wishing to rely on a time achieved by the swimmer for an interval shorter than the total distance of the event shall so advise the Referee prior to the commencement of the session (or event) in question.

20.Meet Officials will provide a safe environment and an organized competition. We are not responsible for the supervision of the athletes during the competition or during session breaks.

21. There are capacity restrictions and limited spectator seating at this facility. People not directly involved in the current session may be asked to leave the fenced-in area.

22. This is an outdoor swim meet. In the event of lightning or severe weather there may be delays or interruptions to the meet and possibly cancellation of some or all events.
In the event of unforeseen circumstances beyond the control of the City of London or the London Aquatic Club (for example, but not limited to: weather interruptions or facility malfunctions), that force the cancellation of part or allof the meet, a partial refund may be granted at the discretion of the Meet Manager.

COMPETITION WARM-UP SAFETY PROCEDURES

Meet Management for all sanctioned Canadian swimming competition must ensure the following safety procedures are applied. It is incumbent on coaches, swimmers, and officials to comply with these procedures during all scheduled warm-up periods. Coaches are requested to encourage swimmers to cooperate with Safety Marshals.

GENERAL WARM-UP:

  • Swimmers must enter the water FEET FIRST in a cautious manner, entering from a start or turn end only and from a standing or sitting position.
  • Running on the pool deck and running entries into the pool tank are prohibited.
  • Meet Management may designate the use of sprint or pace lanes during the scheduled warm-up time. Any such lane usage must be communicated either in pre-competition handout, announcement or deck signage.
  • Diving starts shall be permitted only in designated sprint lanes.
  • Only one-way swimming from the start end of sprint lanes is permitted.
  • Notices or barriers must be placed on starting blocks to indicate no diving during warm-up.

EQUIPMENT:

  • Kick Boards, Pull-Buoys, Ankle Bands, and Snorkels are permitted for use in the scheduled warm-up time.
  • Meet Management may permit use of tubing or cord assisted sprinting in designated lanes and during specific times of the warm-up only. Coaches are responsible for equipment reliability and use.
  • Hand paddles, drag chutes, and flippers / fins are not permitted during any warm-up at any time.

VIOLATIONS:

  • Swimmers witnessed by a Safety Marshal diving or entering the water in a dangerous fashion will be removed without warning from their first event following the warm-up period in which the violation occurred.
  • In the case of a second offense during the same competition the swimmer will be removed from the competition in its entirety. A provincial disciplinary action or report may be filed.

SAFETY MARSHALS:

The Safety Marshal is a trained position designated by Meet Management. Safety Marshals shall:

  • Be visible by safety vest
  • Be situated at each end of the competition tank and when applicable, similarly situated in designated warm-up tanks when pre-competition warm-ups are scheduled.
  • Actively monitor all scheduled warm-up periods.
  • Ensure participants comply with warm-up safety procedures and report violations to the Referee.

PARA-SWIMMER NOTIFICATION:

Coaches are requested to notify Safety Marshals of any Para-swimmers participating in warm-ups where necessary and at the coach’s discretion.

The following statement must appear in all Swimming Canada sanctioned meet information and posted notices:

“SWIMMING CANADA WARM-UP COMPETITION SAFETY PROCEDURES WILL BE IN EFFECT AT THIS MEET.”

SNC Swimwear Rules

ALL swimmers participating in a SNC designated meet or provincially sanctioned meets shall be required to comply with swimwear rule GR 5 as follows:

GR 5 – Swimwear

GR 5.1 The swimwear (swimsuit, cap and goggles) of all competitors shall be in good moral taste and suitable for the individual sports disciplines and not to carry any symbol which may be considered offensive.

GR 5.2 All swimsuits shall be non transparent.

CGR 5.2.1.1 A swimmer may wear only one swimsuit in competition, and shall observe all FINA

regulations related to swimwear as stated in the FINA Bylaws and Rules

GR 5.3 The referee of a competition has the authority to exclude any competitor whose swimsuit or body symbols do not comply with this Rule.

GR 5.4 Before any swimwear of new design, construction or material is used in competition, the manufacturer of such swimwear must submit the swimwear to FINA and obtain approval of FINA.

FINA BL 8.3 From January 1, 2010 swimwear for men shall not exceed above the navel nor below the knee, and for women, shall not cover the neck, extend past the shoulder, nor shall extend below knee. All swimsuits shall be made from textile materials.

SNC has made the following interpretations for GR 5:

All swimwear used in competition in Canada must appear on the FINA approvedlist with the following exception;

Where a swimwear manufacturer has not submitted swimwear to FINA for approval due to the swimwear no longer being in production, SNC reserves the right to allow such swimwear where it can be confirmed that the swimwear conforms to the shape, design and material conditions outline in

FINA BL 8.3 (above).

Under GR 5.3 wherein it is stated “the competitor must wear a swimsuit in one or two pieces…” SNC interprets this to mean a swimmer is limited to wearing a single suit only and where the suit is “two pieces” that the pieces do not overlap each other and are distinct units (i.e. bikini style).

All Canadian Record applications will be reviewed to ensure compliance with GR 5. A Declaration of Swimwear must be submitted with the application to ensure compliance.

All foreign swimmers competing in Canada will be required to comply with GR 5

Any swimmer not complying with GR 5 shall be disqualified.

Single Use Disposable Water Bottles

According to the City of London by-laws, single use disposable standard water bottles can no longer be sold at events hosted atcity-owned facilities.

We will continue with our Maximize Waste Diversion. Water coolers/ city water taps will be available for water needs for our Athletes, Coaches, Officials, and Volunteers.

Please make sure that you bring a refillable water bottle with you to our meet.

Limited parking is available on the lawn surrounding the pool but priority will be given to meet management, coaches, and officials for this space. Please be considerate of others and provide ample room to get people and cars in and out. There is a large city ownedparking lot with reasonable daily rates at the Northwest Corner of Ridout and Horton Streets and free on-street parking can be found in the area.

There are no lockers at Thames Pool. There is a children’s splash pool area that will be open for the use of family members throughout the meet and there is a water slide that will be open at certain times during the meet.
