SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR HUMAN RESOURCES

November 8, 2011

Dear Colleagues:

It is my pleasure to invite you to the Fall 2011 Professional Development Program being held by SNECUPA-HR, your local chapter of CUPA-HR. This program will be held on Friday, December 9, 2011 in the Harry Jack Gray Center ‘s 1877 Club at the University of Hartford in West Hartford, CT and offers the timely and very important topic of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, a subject of significant interest and importance to all human resource professionals.

In the morning, we are delighted to have Raymond Arroyo, Chief Diversity Officer in Aetna’s Office of Diversity and Robert O’Brien, the National Practice Lead for Higher Education at Aetna, Inc. join us to present a highly engaging session which will offer a comprehensive view of Aetna’s journey to instill a broad definition of diversity into the DNA of their organization and how we, in higher education, can utilize and apply their best practice diversity initiatives at our campuses.

In the afternoon, Elizabeth Thornton, Chief Diversity Officer and Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship at Babson College, will join us to discuss how diversity training programs can help managers deal with diversity from a practical perspective in an effort to create more inclusive workplace environments. In addition, Linda Lulli, SPHR, and Associate Vice President of Human Resources at Bryant University, who also serves as an At-Large Director of the CUPA-HR National Board of Directors, will provide some insights on how we can make a difference and proactively support CUPA-HR’s efforts to foster inclusive excellence within our association and within our institutions.
